How to Actually Enjoy SMITE (No Troll) - A Guide to Banning Toxicity from Your SMITE Experience
By Murphy's Lawyer
This guide will show you how to ban toxicity from others from your SMITE experience, and also show you how to ensure you don't find yourself banned from the SMITE experience either.

Introduction
So, I have been playing this game for a long time. It is a toxic ass game, but it can be fun.

In the Summer 2022, Hi-Rez (or whoever runs this show) implemented some new options that I didn't know about until recently. Around that same time they also severely, severely lowered the threshold of what constitutes a "bannable offense".

I think these new options may have flown under the radar, and that is crazy because they literally have saved this game for me.

So if you're new or old, I want to share these spectacular options that can actually make your SMITE experience essentially 99% toxicity free.

As an advanced tactic, I will also show you how to limit your ability to accidentally say something that may get you banned in a fit of rage; as we live in a snowflake world today, the normal bickering of the past 10 years of SMITE is now bannable as "harassment". No longer do you only have to worry about bans for saying the big no-no words, but simply sticking up for yourself to a bully will end up with you banned.

I will show you how to avoid all of this, and have that snowflake's chance in Hades to actually enjoy SMITE before they ban every last person who still plays.
How To Mute All Nonsense
Go to Settings and find the option to Mute All Players. Turn this on.

Underneath that, there is an option to "Show VGS" of Muted Players. I recommend leaving that on. If you are new to SMITE, VGS is the "Voice Guided System", which is a pretty entertaining system where you can have your characters communicate with pre-recorded voice lines. Leaving this on allows you to still hear team-play information from your teammates, but they are limited to the built in voice lines. The extent that your teamates can troll is limited to the cliche SMITE stereotype of having their character spam VER: You ROCK! --which is supposed to be taken sarcastically.

For me personally, this doesn't bother me. As long as the limitless insults available from the full lexicon of human language via the chat function are blocked, I can handle whatever nonsense these trolls can spew while confined to VGS.

***If you want to full on just never hear anything from your teammates you can opt to set the settings to Full Mute and just enjoy some blissful silence. Do note, you may sacrifice some team-play functionality but if its worth it for you to block out the haters, this is an option.

--Laugh spam is blocked regardless, with either Mute Option on.
[Advanced]: How To Avoid Being Banned
For an advanced tactic, there is also an option now to mute yourself. This way if your teammates continuous bad play causes you to flash those fingers on your mighty keyboard and it's just too hard to contain yourself, you can preemptively block your ability to type and limit yourself to the confines of the VGS system just as you limited your teammates.

You can still use the VGS system to communicate and it is more than sufficient to relay the info you need to enjoy the experience of playing SMITE.

If you really would like, you have the option to fully mute yourself as well; but then how can you spam VER VVX at the end of your loss?
But, But! But...
No Buts. For 99% of players, anything that needs to be said can be said with VGS. Having no chat should be the default setting, honestly. If you want to play with friends or "go pro" in a video game, then you're prob using mics and got it figured out.

For everyone else, just mute yourself (VGS only), mute your team (VGS only), and enjoy the game without being told to drink bleach because you are having a rough game.

I hear ya, I never really talked smack but if ppl talked to me I would literally switch gears and just unload for the rest of the game. For years it was no problem as long as I didn't say certain words, but recently they went super butt-hurt mode and any cursing or general smack talk gets you banned; soft world we live in now. Regardless, as long as you don't chat you're fine for those people who don't want to get perma-banned :BFSkull:

Then just throw a few no-no words in chat and voila- addiction cured and lifelong ban.
