Definitive CSGO XP & Service Medal Guide [2023]

How do you earn xp?

To earn xp you can play whatever gamemode you want to, but you have to play on official valve servers, community servers/faceit/esea/esportal does not earn you xp. The xp will be given out after the match is over, so leaving the match early will also not award you with any xp.

CSGO Profile Ranks

In CSGO you have 40 different profile ranks, to level up your profile rank you need to earn xp. Every level takes 5000 XP each, so to reach level 40 you need to gain a total of 195,000 XP.

Gamemodes

Your earned xp from a match is determined in one of two ways, for most gamemodes your earned xp is calculated by your score multiplied with a gamemode dependent multiplier, but for competitive and wingman its the amount of rounds you have won multiplied by 15 for wingman and 30 for competitive to calculate your earned xp.

Competitive: Rounds won × 30
Wingman: Rounds won × 15
Casual: Score × 4
Deathmatch (Team vs Team): Individual score × 3
Deathmatch (Free for all): Score × 0.2
Deathmatch (Classic): Score × 0.2
Arms Race: Score × 1
Demolition: Score × 2.5
Flying Scoutsman: Score × 4
Retakes: Score × 4

Weekly Bonus

Every week you will have an active xp bonus, this bonus is based on how much xp you have already gained that week. Below is a table to showcase how your active xp bonus is determined.

Approximate gained XP	Bonus XP multiplier
Less than 4,500 XP	XP × 4
Between 4,500 XP and 7,500 XP	XP × 2
Between 7,500 XP and 11,167 XP	XP × 1
Greater than 11,167 XP	XP × 0.175

The weekly bonus resets every week at midnight between Tuesday and Wednesday GMT which means you'll once again have a 4 times xp bonus.

Operations

Since Operation Shattered Web each operation rewards a 'Bonus Rank XP' reward which can be redeemed by the player for 5000 xp or 1 level. These rewards are given to the player after completing a certain amount of missions during an operation.

Overwatch

An Overwatch Investigator who successfully confirmed the guilt of a suspect player will gain an Overwatch XP Reward. It will be first notified to the player on the main menu, and the Investigator will redeem the reward the next time the they finish a match on an official server.

The Weekly XP Bonus also applies to the Overwatch XP Reward.

Service Medals

Once you reach level 40 you will have the option to reset your level back to level 1 and redeem/upgrade the current years service medal. There is no level above 40 so the only reason to not redeem is if you want to redeem the next years medal early for example.

To my understanding danger zone uses multiple parameters to calculate the XP and the multipliers arent really known. This is basically the only info there is about how its calculated from the csgo blog "You can earn XP in Danger Zone by looting your environment, killing enemies and trying your best to survive."
