But, I was discussing some of the ethics about that, I don't think it would be respectful for the families of the ones (KIA or not) to have their names and appearance put into a game so we can have fun
After all, most games have that "Characters shown here aren't based on real persons" warning for a reason
In light of my U-48 campaign, I've done some research about the boat and its crew.
For example, at the beginning of the war, the confirmed officers of U-48 were:
Commander (Kptlt.) Herbert Schultze
I. WO (LT) Reinhard Suhren (1st LT on 1 Oct. 1939)
II. WO (LT) Otto Christian Ites
LI (LT Ing.) Willi Edmund Lohner
That's also the structure of officers on all type VII and IX U-boats. The rest, like the radio operator or 2nd engineer were made up off NCO ranks.
Type II's had 3 officers + NCO's.
Type XXI's would have had 5 officers + NCO's.
I think, similar research can be done on other boats.
Pictures of them, if available at all, can best be found by Google search.
In theory, it's possible to even give their real names and all, but, the biggest challenge would be finding pictures of them working, etc.
And yes, it is updated, ignore the launcher warnings
I've set it as a requirement because it looks way better than vanilla
