Dodge Viper GTS

バイパー 、ヴァイパー（英: Viper）は、クライスラーの一部門であるダッジおよびSRTがかつて販売していたアメリカンスポーツカー。ニュルブルクリンク7分1秒30を記録した量産市販車であった。

ここでは当初はSRTブランドで販売されていた三代目について解説する。

メカニズムやコンセプトは、搭載されるV型10気筒エンジンの排気量は8.4リットルと二代目から変更はないが、ピストン、インテークマニホールド、エギゾーストパイプなどに改良を施し、最高出力は640hp（約649PS）まで向上、最大トルクは813N･m (83kgf･m)で、自然吸気エンジンとして世界最大であると発表された。

シャシのねじり剛性を50%向上させながら、ルーフ、ボンネット、リアゲートには炭素繊維を、ドアにはアルミニウムを使用。これにより先代より45kg軽量化された。

トランスミッションには従来同様6速MTを採用、電子制御システムはマルチステージ・スタビリティコントロール、トラクションコントロールシステム、4チャンネルABSが搭載される。

上級モデルのGTSはベースモデルよりさらに軽量な1,476kgに、加えてショックアブソーバーを組み込んだアクティブサスペンションが標準搭載される。

014年にSRTブランドが廃止されダッジに再統合されたため、わずか2年で再び「ダッジ・バイパー」の名が復活することとなった。

しかし、2017年8月、大型スポイラーやサイドカーテンエアバッグが装備できない事等の理由から、米国連邦自動車安全基準 FMVSS 226（車外放出低減）をクリアする事が出来ず、生産を終了。

In terms of mechanism and concept, the displacement of the V-type 10-cylinder engine mounted is 8.4 liters, which is the same as the second generation, but improvements have been made to the piston, intake manifold, exhaust pipe, etc., and the maximum output is up to 640hp (about 649PS). It was announced that the maximum torque is 813N･m (83kgf･m), which is the world's largest as a naturally aspirated engine.

The roof, bonnet and rear gate are made of carbon fiber, while the doors are made of aluminum, while increasing the torsional rigidity of the chassis by 50%. This makes it 45kg lighter than its predecessor.

The transmission adopts the same 6-speed MT as before, and the electronic control system is equipped with multi-stage stability control, traction control system, and 4-channel ABS.

The advanced model GTS weighs 1,476kg, which is even lighter than the base model, and comes standard with an active suspension that incorporates a shock absorber.

Since the SRT brand was abolished in 2014 and reintegrated into Dodge, the name "Dodge Viper" was revived again in just two years.

However, in August 2017, due to reasons such as the inability to equip a large spoiler and side curtain airbags, it was not possible to clear the US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards FMVSS 226 (reduction of emissions outside the vehicle), and production was discontinued.

I wish there was a super muscle car like this in Japan's domestic car (mumbling)
