Special conditions of detention: SCP-1123, in the absence of experiments, should be stored in Zone 19 in a climate-controlled safe placed in a hermetically sealed container filled with argon gas to prevent degradation of the object and the inscription on it. During experiments and storage, illumination should not exceed 50 lux, temperature - from 20 to 24 ° C, and relative humidity - 55%. SCP-1123 should only be transported in a container and should not be interacted with except for controlled experiments.

Description: SCP-1123 is a human skull that lacks the lower jaw and all teeth. On the outer surface of the frontal scales of the skull there is an inscription in modern Khmer, made with the help of human blood and saying: "Remember." Genetic testing confirms that both the skull and the blood belonged to the same person who died around 197.

SCP-1123 was discovered in 198█ by Colonel Hu ████ of the Vietnamese People's Army in the Museum ████ █████ ███████ in █████ ████, Cambodia. SCP-1123 was intercepted by Foundation agents after being delivered to Hanoi.

The Khmer text is very faded and invisible to most subjects more than 5 meters away. However, when approaching SCP-1123, subjects report that the letters gradually become more noticeable, until at a distance of less than 1 m, the text begins to look as if it was written very recently. Several subjects at this distance described the inscription as "still wet". This effect is not reproduced using optical equipment. Optical amplification or UV illumination is required to photograph the text (the latter method is not approved for use with SCP-1123, as it contributes to the degradation of the object). Subjects at this distance often also report the presence of other abnormal sensory phenomena, including odors (for example, ashes or cooking meat), sounds (for example, quiet crying, weak heartbeat or breathing, distant footsteps) and tactile sensations (for example, sand in the eyes, ants crawling on the back of the palm or glass fragments in the foot).

Subjects who touch the surface of SCP-1123 experience a state of dissociative fugue, which manifests instantly and does not depend on the termination of contact with SCP-1123. The symptoms of the fugue last from 90 minutes to 6 hours. With the fugue, confusion, disorientation and acceptance of a new personality and memory are observed, including knowledge, including languages previously unknown to the subject. The subject loses all memories of his previous personality and shows various reactions to this, from a state close to catatonia to attempts to escape or attack the employees of the Foundation. When the fugue state passes, memories of the former personality return to the subject, but the memory of the new, imprinted personality and all the knowledge associated with it remains. Subjects describe these sensations "as if they had lived the entire life of some other person" during the time that elapsed between touching SCP-1123 and the end of the fugue state.

Interviews after the fugue provided researchers with enough data in the "studied cases from ", which allowed them to find historical documentation confirming the correspondence of the personality imprint to a certain person who lived at some time before the subject. No connection was found between the imprint of the personality and the personality of the subject, be it age, genealogy, gender, ethnicity or nationality.

Fingerprints of individuals have the following characteristics:

The fingerprint died before the subject was born (terms ranged from 90 years to less than 1 year).
The imprint was a victim of captivity, torture and/or imprisonment.
The death of the imprint was usually violent, usually due to murder (sometimes death occurred due to secondary factors such as hunger or illness).
The death of the imprint was the result of mass political events, most often - some form of state repression.
Subjects do not experience any obvious abnormal effects due to exposure, but exhibit psychological effects common to traumas experienced by the imprinted personality. Grief, survivor's guilt complex and depression are typical. In some cases, suicidal ideation is observed. It should be noted that in the treatment of these consequences, the use of amnesiacs turned out to be psychologically useless and often even harmful.
