Introduction
The shop page states that the Hearts of Iron 2 Complete is available only in English but you can change language in the game files. Doomsday/Armageddon has to be changed independently.
Instruction
To change Hearts of Iron 2 language you have to do the following steps:
  • 1. Open the Hearts of Iron 2 Complete folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hearts of Iron 2 Complete Pack
  • 2. Open the file settings.cfg with the text editor.
  • 3. Replace default 0 number by #LANGUAGE with number of the available languages (list below).
  • 4. Save and close the edited file. You can also turn off the music by changing 1 #MUSIC to 0 #MUSIC.
  • 5. To change Doomsday/Armageddon language open Doomsday folder and repeat the above procedure: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hearts of Iron 2 Complete Pack\Doomsday
Hearts of Iron 2 will be playable in chosen language the next time you start the game.

Notice: Not all event messages have been translated. Information about languages is available in text.csv file from config folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hearts of Iron 2 Complete Pack\Doomsday\config

Available languages:
  • 0 - English
  • 1 - French (français)
  • 2 - Italian (italiano)
  • 3 - Spanish (español)
  • 4 - German (Deutsch)
  • 5 - Polish (polski)
  • 6 - Portuguese (português)
  • 7 - Russian (русский/russkij)
Notice: The game does not support Polish characters. Portuguese and Russian are unsupported in version 1.3a (XLIF) of Hearts of Iron II and version 1.2 (VBLV) of Doomsday Armageddon. The text will not be displayed (blank buttons).
