Description
This mod DOES NOT increase Camel size. If you want bigger camels in addition to improved stats, download the other version of my mod instead: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2883626855

INTRO

Camels are hard to obtain… they should be more fun to ride! Plus, camels can't jump so they definitely needed some sort of buff. Introducing... the "Improved Camels" Mod, for all the camel-riders out there! Works well alongside "Camel Armor" mod.

Check out my mod collection HERE if you like this mod and want more.

MOD FEATURES

- Camel Stat Improvements:
This mod improves stats of camels in the game such as speed, maneuverability, charge damage, and health/hp. See "CAMEL STAT CHANGE SUMMARY" section below.

- Camel Names Overhaul:
Camel names have been changed, see "New Camels & Reasoning" section below.

If you like this mod please consider leaving a like and favorite :)

===============

NEW CAMELS & REASONING
_____________

[Old camel name] --> [New camel name]

1. Pack Camel (unrideable) --> NO CHANGE
2. Pack Camel (rideable) --> Feral Camel
3. Camel (from tournament) --> Prized Camel
4. Camel --> Dromedary Hybrid
5. War Camel --> Dromedary War Camel
6. Nahasa Camel --> Nahasa Camel
7. Husnphree --> Humphrey

_____________

WHY CHANGE THE NAMES?

In vanilla there are 7 types of camels, but only 5 unique names.
In this mod there are still 7 types of camels, now with 7 unique names.
As you can see, the devs added camels with the SAME name but DIFFERENT stats. For example, there are two "Camel" and two "Pack Camel", each type with differing stats. This is confusing, so the Improved Camels mod simplifies this by giving a unique name to each type of camel (7 names for 7 camel types). Also, who the heck wants to ride a Pack Camel? Phbbt.

VERSIONS OF THE MOD

This version of the mod does NOT come with 10% size increase for camels. If you want all the nice updates in this mod plus larger camels, head over to my other mod: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2883626855

CAMEL STAT CHANGE SUMMARY

1) Pack Camel (unrideable) was not changed.
2) Pack Camel (rideable) was upgraded to Feral Camel, in both name and stats. HP was also increased. You can obtain/buy the new "Feral Camel" anywhere you used to buy the old rideable "Pack Camel".
3) Camel (tournament) is now Prized Camel, and is now extremely fast and maneuverable - on par with some of the best horses in the game. On the other hand, HP and charge damage was only buffed slightly, and so HP and charge damage stats are low compared to other camels for the sake of balance.
4) Camel (regular) is now Dromedary Hybrid. As the name implies, it is a well-rounded beast. Better than the new "Feral Camel", but not as good as the new "Dromedary War Camel" and "Humphrey". You can obtain the Dromedary Hybrid the same way you used to obtained the regular Camel (non-tournament) in vanilla (Defeating Jawwal in battle, for example).
5) War Camel is now Dromedary War Camel. Almost all stats have been improved (especially charge damage & speed) so this is now a proper beast of WAR. You can obtain Dromedary War Camel the same way you used to obtain the War Camel in vanilla (Defeating Jawwal in battle, for example).
6) Nahasa Camel was a new camel recently added by TaleWorlds. With this mod it remains the fastest and most maneuvarable camel in the game, but in my opinion is still only the 2nd-best camel overall; It has slightly higher speed and maneuvarability compared to Humphrey, but less HP than Humphrey and less charge damage than even the Dromedary Hybrid! Also the riding lvl requirement is higher than Humphrey.
7) And finally, Husnphree is now Humphrey (come on, we were all thinking it). He still remains the BEST camel in the game (best charge damage, HP, overall stats), and you can still only obtain him from tournaments in Aserai towns. No reason NOT to ride Humphrey, unless your riding level is too low. On that note, the riding level requirement (for Humphrey and all other camels) can be changed in the "items.xml" file in the mod folder :)

MOD CONFLICTS / MOD NOT WORKING?

Make sure this mod (and the Camel Armor mod, if you're subscribed to that too) is at the bottom of your load order, otherwise another mod that changes items might cause this mod not to work.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I've updated the mod to ensure full compatibility with the latest version of the game.

although the speed of vannila camel is just up to realistic valie D: of 40mph

Quora: "There are expensive specialized horses cabaple to pull much more than camels but on average the camel is much stronger, pulling about 3–4 times its weight. Also an Asian bacrtian camel is capable to carry 600 pounds on its back. A horse can do with half that at best and for a very short distance."
danzloblaha13 Nov 12, 2023 @ 2:21am
in my opinion camels still too weak for their rarity :D lmao i got over 600 mounts (cavalry upgrade type) from that 5% of random finding on steppe and plain + that chance of saving horse from fallen cavalry, but you have it tough to get camel from tournament or then you lucky and loot one from that subfaction of Jawwal camel riders ... so as easter egg i would as dev buff camels about by another hidden +10 armor and 50hp , "cause starved camel should be a lot stronger than a horse" .. xD sooo add the rarity and it should be at least 20% stronger in basic stats than horse and 50% more hp than default camel :D ... or jsut add whole new mount "War elephants" as mentioned bellow .. hope we get some dragon mountes mods soon xD
Bersaglieri Aug 16, 2023 @ 2:04pm
Now if we could just get War Elephants! lol

No worries @lebestratege! English has borrowed from many languages so its interesting to see the similarities and differences that pop up sometimes :)

No plans at the moment for 2-humped camels, as that would required a whole lot of model change to the camels which I'm not going to figure out right now. However my Aserai troops overhaul is coming very soon with new camel troops. I'm really liking how its turning out, hope you guys enjoy playing it as much as I'm enjoying testing :3

your love of camels is admirable friend

@aasimplicity : It's my bad, I got corrected.
To explain my comment i'll say : In French we have two words : "Dromadaire" (Dromedary) and "Chameau" (Camel). The former being 1 hump and the later being 2 humps.

You and wikipedia stand me corrected ^^.
That being said, and maybe it's too much but, could we envision Aserai being exclusively Dromedary (given their obviously arabic design) and having 2 or 3 branches of Khergit faction on Bactrian Camel?
aasimplicity  [author] Nov 4, 2022 @ 7:03am
@lebeststratege
Dromedary is a type of camel that has 1 hump, maybe you're thinking of Bactrian camels? Those have 2 humps

@AzerGhost
Thank you! Hopefully will be able to get the Aserai troops mod finished in the next few days. Just uploaded the Larger Horses mod, feel free to check it out: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2884218327
