In this guide I will be showing you how to obtain all the critters in dreamlight valley!

The purpose of this guide is to show you how to feed and approach the animal critters of dreamlight valley. I was proud to include visuals (images & videos) in the guide that will help you all understand just by looking at it. I hope this ends up helping you all! <3

SUNBIRDS

Where they can be found: Sunlit Plateau
Birds and their favorite foods:


- Emerald Sunbird - Green Passion Lily
Sunday [12PM-12AM], Tuesday/Wednesday/Saturday [all day].

- Golden Sunbird - Sunflower
Sunday [12AM-12PM], Tuesday/Thursday/Friday [all day].

- Orchid Sunbird - Orange Houseleek
Friday [9AM-3PM].

- Red Sunbird - Red Bromeliad
Sunday [12PM-12AM], Monday/Thursday/Saturday [all day].

- Turquoise Sunbird - Pink Houseleek
Sunday [12AM-12PM], Monday/Wednesday/Friday [all day].


How to approach:
Walk up to them and you will be able to simply feed them.

SQUIRRELS

Where they can be found: Plaza

Favorite Food: Peanuts
Likes: Fruit


- Black Squirrel | Sunday [12AM-12PM], Tuesday/Thursday/Friday [all day].
- Classic Squirrel | Sunday [12PM-12AM], Monday/Thursday/Saturday [all day].
- Gray Squirrel | Sunday [12PM-12AM], Tuesday/Wednesday/Saturday [all day].
- Red Squirrel | Sunday [12AM-12PM], Monday/Wednesday/Friday [all day].
- White Squirrel | Sunday [12AM-6AM].


How to approach:
Just walk up to them and you will be able to feed them.

CROCODILES

Where they can be found: Glade of trust

Favorite food: Lobster
Likes: Squid, Shellfish


- Blue Crocodile | Sunday [12AM-12PM], Monday/Wednesday/Friday [all day].
- Classic Crocodile | Sunday [12PM-12AM], Monday/Thursday/Saturday [all day].
- Golden Crocodile | Sunday [12AM-12PM], Tuesday/Thursday/Friday [all day].
- Pink Crocodile | Saturday [6AM-12PM].
- Red Crocodile | Sunday [12PM-12AM], Tuesday/Wednesday/Saturday [all day].
- White Crocodile | Sunday [6PM-12PM].


How to approach:
Red light green light approach.

When you first spot the crocodile and go up to them, they will rise up. When they rise up, you have to stop and wait until they lower back down. When they lower back down, slowly walk up to them until they stand up again. You will need to make your way towards them slowly but surely.

If you approach them too early, they will run away and you just have to find them and try again.

RABBITS

Where they can be found: Peaceful Meadow

Favorite food: Carrot
Likes: Vegetables


- Black Rabbit | Sunday [12AM-12PM], Monday/Wednesday/Friday [all day].
- Brown Rabbit | Sunday [12PM-12AM], Tuesday/Wednesday/Saturday [all day].

How to approach:
Chase them wherever they go. They will hop until you approach them 3 times and you will be able to feed them after the 3rd time.

RAVENS

Where they can be found: Forgotten Lands


Favorite food: 5 Star meals
Likes: 4 star meals

How to approach:
Walk up to them. They will circle around in the air for a couple of seconds, and then lower down. After they lower down, you will be able to feed them.

TURTLES

Where they can be found: Dazzle beach

Favorite food: Seaweed
Other foods they will eat: Shellfish


- Classic sea turtle | Sunday [12PM-12AM], Monday/Thursday/Saturday [all day].
- Purple sea turtle | Sunday [12AM-12PM], Tuesday/Thursday/Friday [all day].
- White sea turtle | Sunday [12PM-12AM], Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Saturday [all day].
- Black sea turtle | Monday [10AM-4PM].
- Brown sea turtle | Sunday [12AM-12PM], Monday/Wednesday/Friday [all day].


How to approach:
Walk up to them. They will hide in their shell for a couple seconds, so you have to wait for them to come out. After they come out of their shell, you can feed them.

FOXES

Where they can be found: Frosted Heights

Favorite food: White Sturgeon
Likes: Crabs

- Black Fox | Sunday [12PM-12AM], Tuesday/Wednesday/Saturday [all day].
- Blue Fox | Sunday [12AM-12PM], Tuesday/Thursday/Friday [all day].
- Classic Fox | Sunday [12AM-12PM], Monday/Wednesday/Friday [all day].

How to approach:
Walk up to them and chase them 3x. After the 3rd time chasing them, you will be able to feed them.

RACCOONS

Where they can be found: Forest of Valor

Favorite food: Blueberries
Likes: Fruit


- Black Raccoon | Sunday [12PM-12AM], Tuesday/Wednesday/Saturday [all day].
- Blue Raccoon | Wednesday [4PM-10PM].

How to approach:
Red light green light approach.

When you first spot the raccoon and go up to them, they will rise up. When they rise up, you have to stop and wait until they lower back down. When they lower back down, slowly walk up to them until they stand up again. You will need to make your way towards them slowly but surely.

> OTHER CRITTERS

IncrediSquirrel: Obtained from the September 2022 Pixar star path.

Wind-Up Raccoon: Obtained from the October 2022 Villains' star path.

Choco Crocodile: Obtained from the mailbox during the first week of release.

Celestial Sea Turtle: Obtained after purchasing the Deluxe Edition founders pack of Disney Dreamlight Valley.

Regal Fox: Obtained after purchasing the Ultimate Edition founders pack of Disney Dreamlight Valley.

Pua: Obtained after finishing "THE SEARCH FOR PUA" quest from Moana.




Festive Fox: Obtained from the December 2022 Festive Star Path.

Every critter will need to be approached more than once (5-8 times), some shorter than others (3 times), in order for them to be in your companion's list. You will know that they've been added once you've fed a critter and you get a new icon in the top corner of your screen. This will notify you that you have obtained a new critter and it is now part of your collection.


Personally, I have been able to collect all critters except for the black squirrel. I have actually fed it more than 50 or 100 times now (and I recorded it too). I am not sure why this is happening, but I know that other people in their discord have said before that they've had trouble getting 1 specific critter. More than likely this will be fixed later on and then everybody can have 41/41 instead of 40/41.

I will be updating this guide as I go on. The way I have gotten this information is from time skipping. That is how I know what days the raven's are going to be in the valley.

However, I am not telling you to go and do it yourself. Time skipping will break aspects of your game. You will not be able to harvest spices or things like Oregano, Mushrooms, Garlic, Mint, and etc from the ground.
If you mine something, you cannot mine the rock again until the time you skipped.
Same goes for harvesting and getting fruit.

And as I am free to play how I want, you are too. Judgement free zone.

I've found this virtually impossible to achieve. Peoples real life hours aren't conducive to this schedule.

You can feed them as many times as you want, but only the first time you feed them each day will count towards the number required to unlock them as a companion.

Well it looks like they've updated it to where you can feed the critters more than once now, so if you accidentally feed them the wrong thing you can try again

Wonderful guide, thank you! I was having trouble approaching a few of the critters. I noticed you have 'Liked' foods listed also -- does that work for friendship or only the favorite food? The white sturgeon for foxes is really hard to get.

Yeah, 12pm is in the middle of the day. 12AM would be midnight. It can be confusing to tell the difference at first so I don't blame you haha
