How 2 VR

Don't know how to play in VR and/or want to Fix the barely playable Vanilla VR Experience? This will help you. (i hope)

Requirements

-A PC (Decent)
-The Base game (LIBRARY SHARING WILL NOT WORK FOR VR!)
-A VR Headset
-IQ above room Temperature

Getting the VR mode to Run

First make sure the Account you are playing on has Payday 2 BOUGHT. If you are playing Payday 2 via Family/Library Sharing the VR DLC will not work and the game will not give you the Option to launch the Game in VR mode.

After you made sure to own Payday 2 go to the store and claim the Payday 2 VR DLC.

After you Claimed the DLC Restart Steam. Now when you Launch Payday 2 it should ask you if you want to launch the Normal Version or the VR Version when starting the Game. If not refer to the Troubleshooting section.

Before you start heisting I STRONGLY recommend you calibrate your height on the TV on your side, otherwise IRL crouching will be majorly ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Enhancing the VR Version

The VR port of the game is Pretty outdated and janky at times. Of course we have the Modding Community to help out.

This guide assumes you have your game already modded or know how to, if not check out this guide.

This Mod is ESSENTIAL for most of the mods here. BeardLib[modworkshop.net] make a bunch of mods work and adds In-Game mod updates.

The Fixes[modworkshop.net], well, fixes a bunch of general Problems with the Game, work with both Flatscreen and VR.

The mod I recommend for more Options and much needed fixes is Unofficial VR Patch[modworkshop.net] (Seems to be EOL, Creators GitLab was Deleted. Mod still works fine for now though).

Another Mod I would like to recommend is VRPlus but it seems the mod got Deleted of Modworkshop and I can't find a Archive of it sadly (If you have the mod or know where to get it feel free to Comment).

A mod for People who already played VR before and don't get sick from it Easily is No VR Fade[modworkshop.net] which removes the Irritating fade when you more your head into a Wall. While this technically gives you wallhacks, you would still get detected by whatever is on the other side due to the way detection works in Payday 2.

Since you have NO Recoil in VR whatsoever, a Mod[modworkshop.net] got created to add "Recoil". While it isn't the sort of Recoil you have in Pavlov and many other games it adds some punch and a light kick to weapons and i strongly recommend the mod.

Two more mods I find useful are Better Procedural Arm Animations[modworkshop.net], which make the arms of VR players look less stiff and more natural (Adds Recoil Source). And Chat Ping[modworkshop.net], which Makes a Ping when someone says something in the Chat (duh).

Fun Mods (Suggestions in Comments)

A list of Mods which don't impact Gameplay and just make the Game more fun.

Kitty VR Gloves[modworkshop.net] - Replaces the Normal Latex gloves with the Kitty Gloves aka Rookie Gloves. (Requires Tailor Pack 3 DLC to be Owned on the Account being Played on)

Troubleshooting

The game doesn't let me choose to Launch the VR Version.

1. Make sure Payday 2 is bought on your Account, you can check this by trying to buy the Game. If you already have the Game it won't let you buy it a Second time and just lets you Gift the Game.

2. Check if you have Claimed the VR DLC.

3. Go in the Properties of the Game and make sure the VR DLC is check-marked [imgur.com].

4. Restart Steam.

My Game crashes when i Launch it.

Often when Payday 2 Crashes it will leave a Mini-Dump File in the Game Directory, form this file you can often make out which Mod is Causing Crashes, see if the mod Causing the crashes is outdated or not Comparable with the VR version.

I have some Weird overlay in-game.

Wired overlays are often caused by mods which Tamper with the Games FOV (i.e PerfectViewModel) and by Unsupported HUDs and Crosshair mods.

I'm always Crouched.

Calibrate your height in-game and in SteamVR.

I can't interact in-game.

Sometimes when First Launching Payday 2 VR, all controls get Unbound, while this is commonly fixed by installing the Unoffical VR Fixes mod, in some cases you have to go ahead and rebind them on your own.
