Special conditions of detention: The SCP-173 object must be permanently stored in a closed container. When personnel visit a container with SCP-173, at least three people must enter the container, and the door must be immediately locked behind them. Two persons must maintain direct eye contact with SCP-173 at all times until all employees have left the container and it is locked.

Description: Brought to Zone 19 in 1993. The origin is still unknown. Made of concrete and rebar with traces of Krylon brand spray paint. SCP-173 is animated and extremely hostile. The object cannot move at a time when it is within the line of sight. Eye contact should never be disrupted when working with SCP-173. Personnel assigned to enter the container are instructed to warn each other before blinking. The object is reported to attack by breaking the neck at the base of the skull, or by strangulation. In the event of an attack, personnel must take measures to contain dangerous objects of Class 4.

The staff reports the screeching coming from the container when no one is present inside. This is considered normal, and any changes in this behavior should be reported immediately to the current HMCL supervisor.

The reddish-brown substance on the floor is a mixture of faeces and blood. The origin of these substances is unknown. The enclosures should be cleaned once every two weeks.
