[ASSET] M17 Sohlberg Helmet

Beschreibung
A lesser known helmet of the two world wars, the "Sohlberg" helmet, the M17, represented the Russian effort to create a native steel helmet for the Imperial Army. The Helmet was to be produced in Finland and issued to the Russian Imperial Army, but this never came to be in any significant numbers due to the Russian Revolution, Civil War and Finnish independence.

The helmet came to be used by the Russians during the Civil War and by the Finnish army (more significantly). The helmets, in small numbers maybe not even in the 1000s came out of use in Finland during the 20's and in Russia around the same time. The helmets got to other Eastern European armies, particularly the Czechoslovak and Polish armies, through the Soviets. The helmet in Finland continued to be used by the Civil Defence, and came to be used, in scarce numbers, during the Winter War.

The pack includes:
  • 2 Finnish-Style Helmets
  • 3 Russian-Style Helmets: 1 Universal
    • 1 Universal
    • 1 Imperial
    • 1 Soviet

You are free to use those helmets any way you want. If you plan to use them inside your mod please credit me.

@Vasikle Thank you for your answer. I'm really busy too in RL. The officer cap would be a very nice addition.

@Sandels FI only the finnish ones fit the humanskins. The russian variants (including the soviet one) do not. You can mostly modify the fin variants to fit everything.

Also really really sorry for answering late, I am insanely busy lately... But yes I might try to make the proper Finnish officer summer cap!

I would like to have fin humanskin of the summer tunic, without the collar marks and lapel pins on their epaulettes. (I would personally remove the lapel pins on all low rank soldiers) However I'm not a modeler and don't know if its possible to do this or edit the humanskin. Also i have to ask if you could do a proper Finnish officer summer cap model? https://www.jaegerplatoon.net/Summer_cap_M39_1.jpg

Very nice indeed. I'm currently making some changes to the Finnish army (see my screenshots). I too noticed that some of the headgear don't fit properly to the fin humanskins. You said earlier that this could be fixed, how? I could really use this information.

@Cynical_Teacup so are you too making changes to the Finnish army? Maybe we could work together since I'm more as a texturer and not so much as a modder. I have already retextured some new stuff.

Amazing stuff really! I am extremely happy actually :) you can simply get the files into your mod as long as you credit me though, no problem with you, thanks!

Thanks for the fix mate, brilliant stuff. I uploaded a version of my own mod with yours as a requirement and credited you in the description.

Thank you for the asset.

That is actually correct! The helmet was sized to fit only Russian and German humanskins, and I've forgot that Finnish humanskins have a larger head and larger forehead. You could've edited the position in .mdl, but I decided to adjust the Finnish variant and now it should fit.

Let me know if everything is ok now.

There seems to be a small model clipping issue with some of the units. Their forehead seems big enough that it phases through the front face of the helmet.
Is it possible to have the helmet position be slightly more forward on the head?

Of course! Would love to see them in use.

Oh nice. Permission to use the finnish ones on the Militia reform mod in the future?
