About the model
About one and a half years ago I released the Detroit fire headquarters. Since then, I´ve been eyeing this Albert Khan designed police station. This however is much and much larger than the firestation, so it´s a much bigger project than the firestation ever was. I think this one really came out well though, so enjoy!

With the addition of natural disasters we can also have helicopter pads for emergency services. I'm not sure how it will work without natural disasters. It's added as a subbuilding. If you do have natural disasters it works just like the regular helipads. The policestation does have a bit more capacity than the normal one and it's a bit more expensive. It stands on 8x5 plot, but the model is a bit smaller than a 8x5 plot. I suggest using move it! and adding some detail with props.

This model has 11960 + 524 tris and a 3072x512 texture + a 512x512 texture , with a diffuse, normal, alpha, illumination and specularmap.This model has a custom LoD, which is about 98+20 tris with a 512x128 + 128x128 texture, with a diffuse, specular and illumination map.

About the building
This Albert Kahn-designed structure in Detroit’s Greektown neighborhood served as the Detroit Police Department headquarters from 1923 until 2013.

Ground was broken for the former Detroit Police Headquarters in late 1921, with the cornerstone being laid on Dec. 29 of that year.

The department’s traffic unit was the first to set up cop shop there, on Dec. 22, 1922. Their fellow boys in blue joined them over the next month or so in this Albert Kahn-designed temple of law and order.

The Police Department moved out of the well-loved but well-worn 1300 Beaubien and into the Detroit Public Safety Headquarters on Third Avenue and Howard Street on June 28, 2013.

As part of Detroit’s historic bankruptcy settlement, the old headquarters development option was given to one of the City’s creditors, Syncora Guarantee Inc., which controls the property through its subsidiary Pike Pointe.
