This guide is a very in-depth guide regarding Shatterline. Each 'content' is categorized nicely and well which makes it easier for the eye. Basically, this guide is an all-in-one guide.

In certain 'contents' there are official creators. All the respect and credits go to them and only them.

This guide will be improved over time. You'll see that by the 'In Development' picture. But for now, loads of information is already given.

Improvement ideas and suggestions are highly welcomed. The same goes for the feedback about this guide! The more the better.

THE EXPEDITIONS ARE OUTDATED (6) MONTHS - KEEP THAT IN MIND!

By leaving a thumbs up and clicking on the favorite button you will do me and others a huge favor. By doing this the guide that I have made will get more traffic and reach and by doing that you'll possibly help those in need of assistance and answers which they also will appreciate. The more people the more help I can give them by your help!

Shatterline | What is it?
Shatterline is a fast-paced free-to-play FPS with a roguelike co-op mode (Expedition) as well as several traditional PvP modes such as TDM, Conquest, Plant-the-Bomb, and Escort.

About this game:
  • We are Frag Lab, an independent development studio located in Kyiv, Ukraine. Never could we imagine that we would be making Shatterline amid a war…

  • Shatterline is a free-to-play arena FPS with a roguelike co-op mode (Expedition) as well as several traditional PvP modes such as TDM, Conquest, Plant-the-Bomb, and Escort. Players can choose from 8 unique Operatives and an armory of 25 weapons that can be customized via attachments.

  • Building Shatterline has been our shared passion for five years and building the Frag Lab Studio for even longer than that. We lost our publisher several months ago, but we continued working on Shatterline. We finished key game systems, fixed hundreds of bugs, polished the gunplay and figured out how to publish our game to Steam. Now we come back to you, the community of players, to help us shape the future of Shatterline.

  • Our approach to developing Shatterline brings you, the player, into our development process. We believe this community-partnered approach to development will result in a lasting game that shooter players love.

  • Our team is very active in Discord with the community and we play together daily. Each week we gather up Discord feedback and in-game telemetry data, then we debate about what we believe will improve the game. We put the stuff that survives the crucible of debate and community scrutiny into our future development roadmap. We keep the game fresh with monthly releases of new content and features.

  • Shatterline is beta/pre-release software. Some features may not work correctly, and this version of the game may be unstable at times.

Shatterline | QnA w/devs September #1
Q: What extra content will be released in full release (the public release of Shatterline)?
A: The main goal right now as Early Access is to polish the game and iterate it with feedback from the players. There are no exact details on extra content, but you won’t be disappointed.

Q: What was the reasoning behind the slide changes?
A: The intention was to add an anti-spam to sliding, but not to slow it down. We will discuss the changes internally and bring feedback to the design team.
Note: As of 2:21 AM PST, the server maintenance has began to address the crashes and to revert the slide-nerf changes. The developers will continue to look for better ways to prevent spamming for sliding.

Q: Why is it not possible to add custom lobbies before full release?
A: This is difficult because all rewards need to be removed to prevent abuse, which is technically more difficult than it may seem. There is a lot to do for custom lobbies to be possible, so they won’t come before launch.

Q: Why have the DMRs not been nerfed?
A: We have nerfed DMRs. It wasn’t mentioned in the first version of the release notes due to an error, but the notes were updated and DMRs have been nerfed but we will continously monitoring if it needs further nerf.

Q: “Server 09-25” error is still a thing. Is there any update on this error?
A: The source of the problem was identified, it will require us to rewrite some part of the netcode to ensure that it is stable and it’s still actively being worked on. But we don’t have an ETA on when this will be fixed.

Q: I’ve seen footage of maps that aren’t available. Are they not live or were they removed?
A: You will see them soon! We’re still finishing optimizations for these maps. The maps will appears as events first once it is ready for the game, and later to be added in the full rotation as more missions released.

Q: Are more characters a high or low priority?
A: We will expand the set of characters, and are currently working on prototypes. We don’t know when they will appear yet, most likely not before full release as it would take longer compared to the other kind of contents normally, in terms of cosmetics, character arcs, etc.

Q: Are you going to open applications for like Discord staff or content creator programs?
A: We are going to have both creator and volunteer applications. This is being worked on right now. It will hopefully appear in the next couple of weeks, once the threshold and privacy stuff is worked out and we will have to work on what we can offer to these people.

Q: Is there any plan on having a load-out system in Expedition?
A: The point of Expedition is to get everything at random, maybe as a permanent perk but don't expect such perk in the near future. In PvP and PvE, you will be able to level up and load out your weapons.

Q: Are there plans on “theater mode game replays”? With free cameras for example.
A: Not in the near future. If we see many demands, maybe. However, we are going to add an option to remove the HUD in the near future.

Q: Are there plans to change max weapon levels to allow gaining more XP?
A: We had a prestige system in mind, but those plans changed due to many circumstances. If it is demanded, we can try to reconsider in the future, but right now it’s not in the plans.

Q: Will we receive an ‘unstuck’ button if we get stuck?
A: We don’t know, maybe a ‘death button’ option, but that has to be considered and discussed since this could also be abused.

Q: When the game comes to console, will you change aim assist values?
A: We will continue to work on aim assist and will be continously looking at the feedback from the players if it needs any further changes.

Q: Is hitreg still being worked on?
A: We try to do our best to keep players with similar ping together to avoid poor hitreg. It is continuously being looked at.

Q: Do you have plans on adding LMGs?
A: Currently not. But we will see about it in the future. But you will probably be able to find a similar weapon in Expedition in the future.

Q: Are stats or rank planned before release, so we can test it?
A: We won’t be able to add ranked or a stat page before the full release. We will do our best to do so after the release. We're still looking for the right game modes and rules for Ranked Mode.

Q: Are reward issues being looked at?
A: We will check on the reward issues.

Q: Do you have plans to add more bosses?
A: Yes, we are going to have more bosses. There will be at least 1 new encounter boss in Expedition before full release and we will be working on the some final bosses later but no specific details.

Q: Are there any plans to separate balances between PvP and PvE?
A: Two balances means double the work, so most likely not. But specific stat balance changes, for example operatives, are being discussed. We won't be changing on how the weapons feel between modes.

Q: Will progress in Early Access stay with us when the game launches?
A: Yes, all of the the progression will stay with you.

Q: Will there be an item shop for skins?
A: Yes, the shop will get a rework, and then we will add more cosmetics to it.

Q: Can Shatterline be played on Linux?
A: The majority of related Linux problems will probably be fixed soon under Proton. Native Linux support is not possible.

Q: How did you come up with the name “Shatterline”?
A: It took us more than 2 years of discussing before we stuck with this name. The first name was Shellguard, but not the entire team liked it. Crystal Lust was another name, but that’s already the name of an online female performer. The name Shatterline stuck with the team.

Q: Will you add a feature where you see your party members in your main menu?
A: We don’t think that’s something we will be working on. It won’t work with the current UI design.

Q: Will there be a clan system? Including clan wars, scoreboards, levels, rewards, etc.
A: The definition of “Clan” varies per player. We are still trying to work out the scope of this feature and what we really need. It’s in discussion, there are design concepts already, but we're still gathering informationOoo. One day, but no other promises.

Q: Will there be more difficulties in PvE, with higher rewards?
A: Yes, we currently are working on a prototype for more difficult Expedition and will internally playtesting it. It'll first appear as an event to gather data. Then, if people like it, maybe it will become a permanent mode.

Q: Minimizing and alt-tabbing from the game causes a crash. Any update on that bug?
A: Minimizing crashes are a known and common bug. We are working on it, we don’t know when it’s getting fixed, but it is being worked on. For now, we recommend playing the game in Borderless.

Q: Will there be a rejoin feature?
A: It is available, but not enabled on all game modes. It doesn’t make sense to do it in PvP with such short matches, but it is possible in PvE and Expedition.

Q: Will we be able to get more blueprints out of PvP?
A: More diverse tasks for PvP are being discussed, but a regular grind hasn’t been figured out yet. We may give higher rewards for bigger PvP tasks at some point. Example: Play 5 or 10 matches for some blueprints.

Q: Will you implement a quick emote feature? With messages such as “help”, “don’t rez” and “thanks!”
A: We are thinking about this. Not before the official launch, but with enough requests, we will try to do it.

Q: Reload cancellation, is that being considered?
A: Reload cancel doesn’t work in PvE as there are situations where you'll have to reload from the scratch again. The reload already doesn’t restart from scratch but continues where it was left off. This feels like a good compromise and suits Shatterline.
Shatterline | QnA w/devs September #2
Q: Are there roadmaps for future PvE content and for after the full release?
A: Plans for the nearest month will be shared soon. As for the long-term, a roadmap is being formed too, but still uncertain. Roadmaps are always changing on what the players are asking for, so do understand that it is subject to change.

Q: Are you going to add emblems and/or calling cards? Maybe through challenges or as a reward for grinding
A: That is something that is in progress. You will be able to purchase random difficult challenges that have bigger rewards.

Q: Controller balance feels off, what is the status on this?
A: Controller balance is constantly being worked on. Player feedback on controller balance is key, so please continue giving feedback.

Q: What qualifications will there be for the content creator program?
A: This depends on who applies. We don’t just focus on scale, but also on motivation. But details are still being discussed.

Q: How large is Frag Lab, as a team?
A: The team consists of a little more than 200 people. Which sounds like a lot, but it’s still way smaller than big studios. We do not have as many resources, but our team is very cool and professional. Most of the members are still in Ukraine but some team members have moved to another country and work from there.

Q: What are your plans regarding cosmetics? How often do you plan to add events or seasonal cosmetics?
A: It will mostly be around the season pass principle. We will also try to support big events, like Halloween and New Year, other events are in discussion but there will indeed be such content.

Q: What is your aim for Expedition in terms of stats? Difficulty? Length?
A: We want a win-rate of around 10%. Right now the win-rate is around 20%, which is too high. Statistically the average is 35 minutes. The plan is to add more co-op-focused encounters to add difficulty, and AI enemies are being looked at and checked for difficulty. Rules of Expedition are also being looked at, to make things a little harder. A harder version called Extreme Expedition is also being worked on, and will again first come as event game mode to check data.

Q: What other PvE modes do you guys have planned?
A: We are going to have more story missions, added regularly. These will have harder variations as well, with higher rewards. We may also add shorter PvE missions at some point, more co-op based and less difficult.

Q: Are you planning on adding a preview feature for cosmetics?
A: We are thinking about 3D previews, and will continue to discuss it.

Q: Will the game be added to tracker websites like tracker.gg?
A: We do not know, it has not been discussed but most likely no.

Q: Is it possible to add names to areas of the map?
A: In the near future, there will be a top-down view of all the maps, and we will consider adding names to areas on those maps as well.

Q: In the shooting range, is it possible to add damage numbers?
A: There will not be numbers, but there will be healthbars.

Q: Is competitive going to be a main focus?
A: We like to see competitiveness in our game, but it depends on the community. If the community asks for more competitive stuff, then we will deliver it.

Q: Will there be tournaments for Shatterline?
A: If we see demand, we will support what is needed for it.

Q: Have you considered nerfing Malva and her instant healing?
A: She has been slightly nerfed in R66 by removing session score and ultimate score for self-healing, but we are aware that she is powerful. We are keeping an eye on her.
Shatterline | QnA w/devs September #3
Q: What are your plans for skill-based matchmaking (sbmm), in both competitive and casual game modes?
A: We have semi-skill-based matchmaking around win/lose ratio. This system combined with ping, game modes you played recently, and team balance creates a matchmaking that works quite fine for Shatterline right now. For competitive game modes, there will probably be a league or ELO rating system, but that is still being discussed. There will be no SBMM in casual game modes.

Q: Is the visual recoil intentional? Are you planning on changing it?
A: Yes, it is intentional but we will think on how we can improve it.

Q: Sometimes the game freezes at start-up and during the first game, are you aware of this issue?
A: Yes, we are aware of this issue and are working on it.

Q: Will 2v2 be added?
A: We will consider it, but not soon.

Q: Are you going to add emotes?
A: Yes, emotes are being planned, we want to add them but we don’t have an estimated time for when they will arrive yet. Win poses will come first, everything else later.

Q: Are there plans for crosshair customization?
A: We have discussed it, but it won’t come anytime soon. Far after the full release, possibly.

Q: Any plans to change the radar system? So it only reveals you when you shoot for example.
A: We don’t have plans to change the radar system right now, but we will take a look at the feedback on how to improve the minimap system.

Q: Could some developers check in on competitive player gameplay, so they can see how these players treat the game?
A: We will check in on competitive players and approach some of them.

Q: Are more Escort maps going to be added?
A: We will have an event for a new Escort map in a few days! (Later mentioned that this is on the 30th of September)

Q: Is Orbit’s drone going to be changed for PvE, since it’s useless right now?
A: We are discussing on how to improve abilities that have more use in only some game modes. For example, maybe Orbit’s drone will increase the damage its scanned enemies scans take.

Q: When will Shatterline come to console?
A: We are working hard to get the console version done around the full release. Due to technical reasons, PlayStation will come first.

Q: How will the previously mentioned short PvE missions work?
A: It will work similar to Strikes in Destiny missions. There will be a playlist that matches you into random mission from that playlist.

Q: Is there anything you can do with the hidden red beavers?
A: These are very secret easter eggs, but they don’t do anything. But, we are looking to further rewarding for exploration in Expedition soon.

Q: Will Episodes be added as permanent modes?
A: PvE missions take a long time and are difficult to make. We hope to release a new episode every now and then up until full release, then at the full release all episodes will be available permanently as a separate entry. Then future PvE episodes will first come as events, and later on be added to the always-available list.
Writer's note: A new episode will be coming out next month, it'll be called Hecatomb.

Q: What is the focus for PvP? Casual or ranked?
A: We’re still figuring out which game modes to make the competitive modes. We are testing what game mode works best, so that’s still being looked at. For casual players, there will be new PvP events every now and then, to see what works, what could become permanent, what needs work, etc. Feedback is very important in this.

Q: Are there plans for Red Lake to come back?
A: It will come back before the full release, but other PvE missions will come first, and then they will all be permanently available around the full release.

Q: Are there any plans for kill streaks?
A: We may try to come up with some kind of event game mode in which it may work, but there are no real plans for it and shouldn't be difficult to prototype.

Q: Will aiming while jumping be possible at some point?
A: We see this request a lot, and will continue to research it. But right now we don’t want to add it. Adding shooting while jumping will make everyone spam jumps, and we don’t want that in our game.

Q: What is the status on an FOV slider?
A: Technical issues prevent adding an FOV slider, but it is still being worked on.

Q: Will there be an in-game report function?
A: There already is!

Q: Will there be support for stretched display resolutions, such as 4:3 or 5:4?
A: According to the Steam statistics, there are very few users who played in such resolutions, so it won’t come in the nearest future. This will also requires precious time and resources that can be used for other important matters.

Q: Are you going to add the possibility to use skins on all weapons, even all modifications?
A: It’s possible to use skins on Legendary modifications already. Using weapon skins while having modification buffs is being discussed, but we don’t know when that comes.
Shatterline | QnA w/devs September #4
Q: Will the Battle Pass always be 3 months long? More cosmetics for characters?
A: For now it will stay as it is, there are no plans to change this. But adjustments will be made if necessary. The biggest bottleneck for us right now is that our team isn't huge and the content for the Battlepass takes time to develop. The shorter the Battlepass is, the less content it will have and more pressure will be on the team. It will be discussed but it won't happen right now.

Q: Are store cosmetics going to include exclusive skins that you won’t get anywhere else?
A: Yes, there will be cosmetics exclusively to the store. Maybe at some point it will also include stuff from older seasons, but not right after the season ends of course.

Q: Are there any plans for a dedicated sprint button?
A: We have tested this before, and 99% of the time you would be using this button, this game is pretty fast and having walk stance is mostly not needed. We have tried different variation of combining sprint and walk for 2 years and people don’t use it often, so we don’t think it will be necessary for Shatterline. How it is now fits the game best.

Q: How will future weapons and tiers be added?
A: We don’t know how we’ll add new weapons specifically. We haven’t discussed that enough yet.

Q: Recording programs block the game from starting up. Will this be fixed?
A: We will pass this info on, it will be looked at.

Q: In-game chat, any ETA?
A: We're working on it. The in-game chat system has to be made from scratch so we're currently working on another solution. There's no ETA yet.

Q: Will there be a player list when loading into a match? So you can see each other’s names and banners.
A: We are working on some username customizations, but this remains uncertain. A player list also won’t fully work because lobbies are still being filled when the match starts.

Q: Will your Steam username always be your Shatterline name?
A: Yes. We will most likely not be able to change it, as that has to do with Steam as well.

Q: What are your priorities on map development? In terms of community-made maps, will we be able to make our own maps?
A: This is not on our list. We will consider parts of it in the future, after launch, but it is very difficult. Map creation especially, but community-made skins and other cosmetics maybe.

Q: Expedition perk plans? Are you going in the direction of builds, or just random stuff?
A: We are looking to expand the perks, and are also looking at combinations and builds towards specific weapon types. But the community does a great job at creating new builds too.

Q: What is the team’s (Fraglab) balance philosophy?
A: We want every weapon to be viable in its own way, and we want all weapons to have a somewhat equal time-to-kill.

Q: About hackers: CS:GO has a system called Overwatch, where the community is able to check hacker reports and help out this way. Is this an interesting idea to you?
A: It’s a good idea, and in line with our approach. This takes a lot of effort, but we will discuss it.

Q: What do you think about a contract system for modifications? Like in Valorant.
A: We are discussing things around modification gain, but we have no concrete information right now. We currently only have a couple modifications (18 as of right now), so it will be difficult to do such things with a limited amount of modifications.

Q: Will there be a weapon trade system between players in Expedition?
A: Most likely not, because it would make Expedition too easy. We can maybe try to add a perk for that but nothing concrete about that for now.

Q: Will competitive game modes have spectator modes? Clans? Is there anything not on the table?
A: The two nearest things that will happen after full release are custom games for specific teams and scrims and such, and Ranked Mode. After that we will try to work on spectator mode and will see if it’s possible to add in-game tournaments.

Q: Will the server tickrate change?
A: It will stay 30hz for now. The main reason for this is console requirements, but we will see if it can be changed later. But for now, no idea when or if it can happen.

Q: Is the current aim assist only slow-down? And is it different between PvP and PvE?
A: Right now it is the same, but it will be different in PvP and PvE later (stronger in PvE). There is no snapping or so, it just dynamically changes sensitivity if you’re aiming at someone.

Q: How exactly does weapon XP work?
A: Right now, you don't get XP for maxed weapons. But maybe we will add more levels or obtainable skins or a prestige later, so you can get more XP. But nothing specific on that yet.

Q: Drone hitboxes, are they being looked at?
A: We will investigate how consistent or inconsistent they are, these hitboxes are not on our radar right now but we will look at them.

Q: Operative balancing, any future changes in mind?
A: we are constantly looking at operatives and their balances, and discussing changes. No specific ones come to mind right now.

Q: Will you be able to refuse to be revived?
A: It is being discussed, but we don’t know yet.

Q: Will you allow us to test all weapons in the shooting range, before buying them?
A: It is technically difficult to do so with attachments, so we’re not sure. But we will discuss if it’s possible to be able to use all the weapons themselves, without attachments.

Q: Will the user level come back or not? To show your progression and how long you have been playing?
A: The levels already are there, just not shown right now. But it will hopefully come back once stat pages are shown.

Q: How many hidden red beavers are there?
A: We do not know, the level designers won’t tell us! But we want to expand Expedition exploration in such interactive ways, as previously mentioned.

Q: For modifications, will there be a system that increases rarity chances after getting a lower rarity modification several times?
A: Legendary modifications have a 20% chance of dropping, so it’s not that rare. You also don’t get duplicates, and there are 18 modifications available, so such a system will not be necessary.

Q: Could you go past operative level 8 to continue getting cosmetics or XP?
A: Not planned, but we will discuss that.

Q: How about adding PvE enemies into PvP game modes?
A: We have experimented with PvPvE, and we have a game mode that requires some optimization before it can be shown, but will be added at some point as an event. Other PvP game modes with PvE enemies are difficult from a technical standpoint.

Q: Can you bring in Endless Mode, where we have to survive as long as we can?
A: We can see if we can make an encounter similar to that in Expedition, but we don't have a plan on doing a standard endless mode. We felt like exploration elements bring more variety. We constantly do prototypes for new game modes from the level designers and game designers, so we'll see if we can come up with a good take on this idea.

Q: Will you make bolt sniper ADS quicker and not sway as much?
A: We want to prevent quick scoping, so this is unlikely. But we will look into it. Maybe we'll add breath holding but nothing specifics yet.

Q: Is it possible to add a wagering system in PvP, with blueprints?
A: We love that kind of design, but currently have no tools to implement the such an idea. We also have to consider the downside as well, such as illegal blueprint trade, staged games, etc. This is a difficult matter, but it is being discussed.
Shatterline | General FAQ
What is the best weapon?
There is no 'best weapon'. It all depends on your play style. Are you a flanker, rusher, camper, or more into playing as a support type of person? SMGs are good for close/medium-ish range. Assault rifles for medium to long range, sniper rifles medium to long range, and shotguns from close to almost medium range. There is no 'best weapon' it all depends on your aim, movement, and tactics.
What is the best operator?
There is also no 'best operator'. Each operator has different abilities which you can each in many types of situations. If you level up your operator you get more extras which could come in handy in most situations. Try to find one that fits your style of playing!
What is the best way to get weapon XP?
Try and grind Expeditions with just one or two weapons that you would like to level up. After finishing the Expedition you will most likely level up your weapon by 1, 2 or 3 levels depending on where your leveling is right now.
What is the best way to get operator XP?
The best way to get operator XP is to use their abilities and play Escort. Follow the objective, make kills and try and get killstreaks. Heal up your teammates, back them up with support in need and try to use that as much as possible. For example, if you play a medic you will get loads of XP just for using your abilities and helping your teammates. This also counts for reviving them.
In what mode can I get the most kills and XP?
The best way to get kills and grind for that XP is Escort as you can easily get over 10.000 points.
Check out the 'what is the best way to get operator XP' part above this message. It's basically the same. Like, if you are a sniper and start camping and your aim is decent you can get easily 10/20 kills each time without possibly dying. Just think wisely and maybe have a friend defending you. On the other hand, you can follow the objective which gives you XP. Standing next to the vehicle and killing enemies grants you even more. Making killstreaks adds a bonus and headshots as well. After playing let's say for around 3 games you will get to know what the best way of playing and gaining XP is.
Can I play with a controller?
Yes, you can play with a controller. In this guide, if you scroll a bit down you'll see more information.
How to get more blueprints?
The best way to get blueprints is basically to follow the tasks. Weekly ones and daily ones. By finishing the Expeditions you get blueprints as well. Could take a while to complete it but it is definitely fun and a great feeling if you completed everything.[/h1]
Shatterline | Episode FAQ
What are Episodes?

Episodes are narrative-driven Coop missions, where the story of Shatterline will gradually unfold. While this game does not have a classic single-player campaign, Episodes are the closest one can get to that kind of experience.

How can I play Episodes?

Episodes will appear on the Events rotation schedule at certain dates. When an Episode is active, you can find it under the Events badge in the game lobby. New Episodes will be announced prior to their introduction to the schedule.

How long are Episodes?

Playtime of the Episodes varies. There are longer missions that take from 30 to 45 minutes to complete, and there are shorter ones, which take 15-20 minutes. The estimated playtime is indicated in the description of the Episode.

Are Episodes connected to each other?

Each Episode is a self-contained story, which takes place in the Shatterline universe. You will play them in a random (not chronological) order. However, each Episode has a time and date. If you place all the Episodes on a single timeline, you may be able to follow a bigger story.

Can I play Episodes solo?

At this time, no. Episodes were designed to be a Coop experience. If you should find yourself in a situation when both of your teammates are disconnected from the session in the middle of an Episode, then technically you can try to complete that Episode solo. However, the difficulty system will still assume that you have a full squad.

How can I learn more about the Lore?

We put a lot of work and effort into the lore of Shatterline, and we have a plan of the story development via future Episodes and Expedition updates. However, we would not want to reveal the secrets and spoil the plot. That is why we are not making the lore database public. You are free to create lore-related content on Shatterline in any form you like (art, fan wiki, speculation threads / videos etc.) New Episodes may confirm or disprove your theories, though.

Possible FPS boost 2:
Go to your 'Options' and click 'Graphics'. In here you'll see loads of things you can change. Now, this depends on your PC and the specs you have in there. I use a 2060 and some other good specs for a medium/high-end gaming PC but I will not be playing on high resolution even though my FPS is over 150/200. The current settings that boosted my FPS without making the game look 'ugly' are as followed:

  • Quality - Medium
  • Frame Limit - 200
  • Texture Quality - Medium
  • Object Quality - Medium
  • Shading Quality - Medium
  • Particles Quality - Medium
  • Special Effects Quality - Medium
  • Water Quality - Medium
  • Lens Flare - OFF
  • Screen Space Reflections - OFF
  • Anti-Aliasing - SMAA
  • BLOOM - OFF

Now, with these settings I have a very smooth gameplay experience without much problems. Of-course, I you want to play on high resolution that's up to you but in my opinion this is the best way.

Now you also have to keep in mind to not have loads of background programs running in the background. Close those who you do not use nor need which will also boost it up a little bit. And if you really want you can open your taskbar > click on the game.exe > set the priority to high.
Shatterline | Controller setup
A great member from Shatterline 3oF created a website related to setting up a controller in Shatterline with way more handy information and details.

I'm highly suggesting to check out his website: https://3of.org/sl-controllers/

The great member 3oF will also be updating the website here and there to make it even more professional.

If you have any tips and/or suggestions in general, post a comment below or reach out to him through his Steam.

If you are not using devices from above, but getting BSOD you can try this while we are looking for a fix on our side (devs)
https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/4-tips-fix-blue-screen-error/
Developer message:
Update:13.09.2021

A quick update on BSOD issues, 09-25 and 01-00 errors.

We are continuing to investigate and work on fixes for the reported BSOD issues and 09-25 errors. Some 09-25 errors and a small number of 01-00 errors are associated with USB Wi-Fi/4g/5g sticks or Internet connection via mobile phones. No ETA yet, but stay assured that fixing these issues is one of our topmost priorities.

The 01-00 error is a trickier one. It indicates that the user's PC cannot reach our servers. While some 01-00 reports are associated with the above-mentioned problem with sticks and phones, other reports may indicate some traffic issues because of firewall settings, ISP restrictions, etc.

We are monitoring all the reports in Discord and on Steam, and doing our best to fix the most urgent and widespread issues.
Shatterline | Error code 09-25
If you observe an error code 09-25 it seems that the DNS of your provider is blocking Amazon Servers.

As a temporary fix use:
https://1.1.1.1/
Cloudflare wrap free and safe

Or change your DNS server to Google open DNS:
https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using
You can also try to use a VPN.

The issue may also be caused by the Anti-Virus software, try to make an exception for Shatterline for now.

This issue will be fixed as soon as possible as it's on their priority list.

Update:
When trying to launch the game, players from certain countries encounter Error 09-04 due to the fact that these counties block VoIP traffic at the country level. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about it as the same protocol used for VoIP is also used for communication between the game client and the game server. The only possible solution is to use a VPN service.

Shatterline | Weapon tiers
How to efficiently progress through the armory tiers
  • When playing Shatterline for the very first time, or after a progression reset, you will only have access to the first tier of weapons. In order to acquire further weapons you will be required to unlock the next tiers. There are a total of 5 tiers, however only weapons up until tier 4 (!!!) are currently available..

  • New tiers are unlocked by gathering weapon XP of all previous tiers, which in turn is achieved by equipping a gun and getting kills with it. Weapon levels are currently capped at 10, the so called max level. Once reaching said max level, you will no longer generate weapon or tier xp with it.

  • Your secondary weapons (sidearms) will not find use as regularly as your primaries, so do remember to frequently swap to them whenever possible. For example when you are engaged in a firefight and your primaries magazine runs out of bullets (remember, swapping is faster than reloading). With that in mind, make sure to equip sidearms that have not yet reached level 10, to get the maximum out of it.
In order to acquire new tiers as soon as possible, you want to focus on primaries that are unleveled and meet your personal preferences and playstyle best.

In my case it would look something like this:
- Tier 1 Ar
- Tier 1 SMG
- Tier 2 Ar
- Tier 2 SMG
- Tier 3 Ar
- Tier 3 SMG
- Tier 3 Sniper
- Tier 4 Ar
- Tier 4 SMG
  • Following this, you should find yourself racing through tiers. Unfortunately, you will have max-leveled all your preferred weapons at some point. Thus being left with your personally less favorable ones, should you wish to continue to grind for weapon and tier xp.

  • Ideally, you would start buying and customizing upgrades once you have all the guns of the tier that you want/need. Do keep in mind however that weapons from new tiers need to be purchased individually, so be sure to save up for them. I'd also advise you to not buy any skins until you have all your preferred weapons of available tiers, as well as their upgrades, as skins only customize looks and (currently) grant no gameplay benefits.

Expedition | information
Expedition is one of the Signature PvE modes of Shatterline where you, the Immunes, get
dropped into one of the “Impact Zones”, a hostile environment dominated by the Crystalline.
Your goal is to complete random objectives, as well as defeat a boss, for which you get
progressively better rewards. During your mission, you will have to collect supply drops to
upgrade your gear, and fight groups of enemies blocking your way to the objectives. But
while you are taking your time to run around and explore, the crystalline infection becomes
worse and worse, eventually forcing you to extract from the impact zone.
Expedition | rewards
In every match you finish you will get rewards; the amount of the rewards differs based on
how far you get before you die, extract or win. There are three objectives and one boss
battle and every time you beat a stage you get more rewards. If your entire team dies you
will lose half of the rewards you have acquired. But if you leave the game you will lose all of
your rewards.

  • Objective 1: 2 blueprint, 50 coins and x amount xp
  • Objective 2: 4 blueprints, 100 coins and x amount xp
  • Objective 3: 8 blueprints, 200 coins and x amount xp
  • Boss battle: 12 blueprints, 400 coins and x amount xp

Whilst you are playing and killing enemies you also earn weapon xp. This unlocks
attachments etc. You can still use guns that you haven't unlocked and earn weapon XP for
them, but when you unlock them the levels will disappear. (There is a “glitch” right now
where you still keep the attachments for the guns but not everything about this is known)
Expedition | contamination
Contamination is a big part of the game mode; the more time you spend in the match the
greater the level of contamination becomes. When the level of contamination rises the game
will become harder. The contamination effects will spawn and bother/attack/stun you
wherever you are on the map and even underground in some cases. If the contamination
level reaches the maximum time limit you will be forced to extract.
  • Chasers: These are monsters that will spawn and attack one of the players. It
is a flying tentacle monster that flies around and sticks to players. When it is stuck
to someone it will slowly kill the player. The only way to get rid of the chaser is to kill
it and if it is stuck to someone the other team mates will have to help to kill it.

  • Fireflies: These are small flying monsters that spawn when you kill another
enemy. they will follow you and kill you if you don’t kill them first. It will not count as
a kill when you kill them.

  • Eruption: (we are a bit unsure about this) These are lava balls that shoot up
from the ground and leave lava where they explode.

  • Explosive anomaly: These are explosive “balls” that spawn when you kill an
enemy. They create a forcefield and if you stand inside you will take a lot of
    damage.

  • Meteor strike: These are meteors that will come out of the sky. They fall
down in waves where you won't be killed by the first one but you take a lot of
damage. It is possible to escape them by running away from the marked area
    before they fall.

  • Ball Lightning: This is a flying ball that will spawn at random. The ball will only
affect one player at a time. The ball will shock you, when you are shocked you will
get stunned and take damage. The way to get rid of the ball is by shooting it.

  • Increased melee damage: Enemies do much more melee damage than
    usual.
Expedition | extraction
There are three ways to extract/finish a match.
  • The first way to extract is quite simple and easy to do. If you and one more member of your
team feel like you can’t keep going you can vote to extract with a beacon that appears after
    a boss fight.

  • The second way to extract is when you are forced to. If the contamination reaches a
the maximum you will have to extract in five minutes or you will lose the game.

  • The third way is to kill the final boss; after this you will instantly be extracted.
When you, either choose to extract or you are forced to do so you will get a new waypoint.
The waypoint normally isn't far away and is easy to reach. When you arrive, you will have to
fight enemies. After you defeat all the enemies you will be extracted.
Expedition | objectives
During your mission, you will be presented with three objectives to complete, as well as a
final Bossfight as a fourth objective.

  • Cyborg Stilt
Once you activate this objective, the Cyborg Stilt (see encyclopedia) as well as a great
number of Strafer enemies will spawn; to complete it, you must kill the Cyborg Stilt. It’s as
    easy as that!

  • Bomber Dogs (Specimen Grinder)
The Specimen grinder (Shown as “Bomber Dogs”) is a crystalline structure, protected by an
impenetrable shield and constant waves of crystalline enemies. To defeat it, you must kill
Hound enemies that try to run towards the grinder and use their dropped spine to damage
the shield. Don’t let the dogs reach the grinder, as it will then start attacking you! Once the
shield is down, you can damage the grinder with your normal weapons and your ultimates.
High damage ultimates like Kites or Brisas are sometimes able to onecycle the Grinder!

  • Power Stones (aka Urchin)
You will see a big glowing orb, shielded by three floating Stones, that is spawning waves of
enemies. To damage the Orb, you first have to destroy the Stones. After that, you can shoot
the orb itself with weapons and ultimates.

  • Transmutator (where flaming crystalline run towards a portal to be turned into adamants)

  • Soil Probe Defense (defending a drill while strafers spawn and attack, 3 times)

  • Sample Extraction
At this objective, you will be asked to fill a container with crystalline samples, while waves of
crystalline enemies try to stop you; These samples are obtained by slaying Glassheads.
Once a sample is dropped, you will have to pick it up and carry it to the container, which will
then fill a progress bar. After about six samples, the Container will be extracted, and all
    remaining enemies will perish.

  • Strafer Vault (Quantum computer)
(arrival(an elevator down to an underground compound); first canister (a maze of narrow
corridors; seeker mines; laser gate; bringing the canister back); defending the computer
(waves of enemies; enemies stealing the canisters); Second canister

  • The Server room
(enclosed building/Server Room; Terminals to Hack; Strong strafer enemies)

  • Envoys Chambers (Boss)
Two random Bosses will spawn; One of the stilts (either cyborg or normal), and either

  • Behemoth or Queen.
You will have to fight both of them at once, so think carefully if you have the Equipment to. It
is no shame to extract after the third Objective to keep the full reward!
Expedition | encounters
  • Normal Supply Drops are always linked to Encounters; Once you get into its proximity, a red
circle will appear and an Encounter will start. There are many different Types of Encounters,
each posing a different challenge for the players.

  • Once you have completed the Encounter, for example by destroying glowing balls or killing
every enemy in the area, you can stand by the Supply drop to unlock it, causing any
structures generated by the Encounter to be destroyed.

  • From the Supply Drops you will get gear (selecting from two or three options), including
weapons and abilities, but also special Effects. These Effects can range from a higher ammo
capacity to Enemies randomly exploding when shot.

  • While there is an indicator for rarity (The color of the Item), it is more of a guideline; An item
of a higher tier will probably be better than one of a lower tier, but read their effects carefully
and choose the one best suited for your playstyle.

  • Additionally, to primary and secondary weapons, you might also come across “Power
Weapons”. These are exceptionally strong weapons that take up an additional weapon slot
(traditionally bound to 3), but have limited ammo capacity.
Expedition | lost supply drops
  • There are also hidden supply drops scattered all across the map. These supply drops don’t
spawn any enemies, but are harder to get to.

  • The announcer will occasionally point out that there’s a hidden supply drop somewhere
nearby, so keep an eye out for that and keep an eye on the map as supply drops will be
    shown there as well.

  • Some of them are locked away behind a door or above a ledge, and for these you will need
an Exo or Recon operative player to help the other players reach this supply drop. However,
breakable doors can also be opened by explosives like flammable Barrels.

  • Sometimes, using the Terrain to your advantage or getting creative with your abilities might
secure you supplies you would normally not get to.

  • Working together and calling out these lost supply drops will greatly help you and your
teammates gear up without having to waste time on fighting enemies!
Expedition | teamwork
Teamwork is Important in this Mode; You shouldn´t split apart from each other or go in
different directions. The Respawn Timer is long, meaning once you are downed, you can
only participate in the fight again if resurrected. Once you all die, the mission is over, so stick
together and help each other!

Pls... Insert a solo mode. Sometimes it takes more than 10 minutes to find a match (when it finds)
Other thing... There's many many many hackers on SA servers... Invest hard on a anti-cheat pls
I understand there's a war in Ukraine and I feel bad about that but... If you do not invest on your game, the same will be dead soon!
