Description
Traprain Law, Scotland, 401AD

The hill now known as Traprain Law, was once the site of the capital city of the Gododdin, a people who once ruled the area now known as East Lothian, in present-day Scotland. The city was known to the Romans as Curia, and the tribe as the Votadini, as recorded by Ptolemy.

The city was first founded around 1000BC, but it reached it's height from 40AD to the last quarter of the 2nd century (about the time that the Antonine Wall was manned). The city remained an important place until it was abandoned around 400AD and the Gododdin moved their capital city to Din Eidyn (Castle Rock in modern Edinburgh).
