Description
--As of 1.9, this is just a redundant version of No More Levies, since I made game rules to allow for more/less levies as you see fit, but I'll maintain this if people prefer it--

--I have separated the Vassal Contracts out to its own mod Men at Arms Contracts since it was having some issues between my two mods. It should be wholly compatible, should you wish to play with this--

Have you ever been annoyed with the amount of late game spam that comes off of fighting huge empires off of the pure numbers of levies that they are able to throw into the meat grinder? Tired of how the stronger powers can easily absorb independent realms when, historically, they took centuries to obtain their borders?

One major factor affecting military strength is just how easy it is to have armies entirely composed out of brainless and easily reprehensible levies, making warfare less strategic and more about who has the bigger blob, rendering your men-at-arms less important. This mod alters that by removing a large number of levies from the game, making men-at-arms more important.

(Note for longtime users: these aren't changes, just elaboration on the mod's details)

Minor Altercations were done to some scripted effects, holy sites, lifestyle perks, etc (anything affecting levies) to affect general army upkeep/cost instead
Values for Norse Invasions were also reduced so de-Norsification has a greater impact

However, it isn't perfect, since your personal men-at-arms are unbalanced by all of your vassals, and so I would recommend some AI factional balancing mods like Loyal to a Fault or More Interactive Vassals so that you don't always stand alone against all of your vassal's MAA.

I didn't notice that issue when I was updating for 1178, thanks for reporting the issue. It has been corrected and the Kingdom of Sicily (and any other problems that also might've been from my attempt to touch the history file) have been corrected.
In the meanwhile, I will be looking at an alternative method for balancing the event troops spawned at the start dates, so those fights might be a bit imbalanced for a while.

It probably does not work with the new data. But otherwise it seemed to work just normally okay? So can't say

For some reason this mod is not compatible with the new start date 1178 for me, it destroys the kingdom of sicily and makes some random vassals here or there independent, not accurate to 1178

I can confirm that the mod works with most of the Overhaul mods. And also on the newest patch.

So the other version is a game rule, so I'm assuming that that one would require a new game. Can I enable this one midway through a playthrough? I'm using Crusader Wars and battles are starting to get taxing on my PC.
