Onna Sakura Clan: A Mod Proposal

A proposed mod for a fictional faction of Samurai Women. Made strictly for fun and the glory of booba.

Introduction

I am not proposing animu cringe in the slightest. I propose a custom faction that is made entirely of women units. The Ashigaru, the Generals, the Samurai, even the agents! The purpose is simple, because it would be beautiful. It would obviously be historically inaccurate, but it would glorify the Onna Bushi who did exist. It would also be fun.

I have seen mods that have woman versions of such units already. The Onna Peasant Ashigaru Unit Pack, Archers of the Wind, The Kunoichi, and expecially the Naginata Cavalry Warrior Nuns and Onna Unit mods are all good ideas!

But I think the idea could be expanded upon ten thousand fold!!!

Description

The Onna Sakura (Cherry Blossom Women) are an independent confederation of women lead by ronin Onna Bushi, widows, and orphans. They come from all over Japan fleeing the chaos and destruction inflicted by the rampaging Daimyo. The sect is named after its first elected leader, Sakura Iwakura. The original purpose of the sect was to provide women and girls safe haven and protection from the wars.

The Onna Bushi trained their charges in the way of the sword regardless of class, for bandits and unscrupulous samurai liked to prey upon the weak. Before they knew it, they had shaped widows into warriors. Ambition began to fester in the heart of the sect's leadership. Using arms and armor looted from the battlefield, they stage a coup over the Osumi providence and take control. From this new power base, they set about to create their own society dominated by samurai women.

They formed their Clan as a means of protecting themselves from the wrath of the samurai. What is to stop them from becoming the very enemy they sought to avoid?

General Information

The Onna Sakura would play very much like the Ikko Ikki, as I feel they share similarities in theme and objective. Their purpose is to completely overthrow the established order and take control for themselves. This would mean the ire of the other Clans, thus a diplomatic penalty. To counter this however, they would have the unique ability to spawn more Princesses than any other clan. Such Princesses can be thought of as orphan children or babies who are adopted by the Iwakura clan. If said Princesses grow to adulthood however, they can be fielded as Generals.

Like any Ikko General, they would have access to the religious trait early on. I see no issue with said Generals taking wives like their male counterparts, if only for the lulz.

While they are not necessarily driven by faith like the Ikko, I would propose a specialized Temple chain and "Faith" representing the Onna Sakura's amazon philosophy. Their aim would be to seduce as many women to their cause as they can. One could call it simply an Onna Sakura Temple. Whether or not this translate to them having superior Monk units or not would be up to a mod creator's discretion.

The Onna Sakura would not have access to the Metsuke, Ninja, or Monk/Priest, as they are all men. However to counter this, they would have access to the Geisha from their first Sake Den. I would also give them a specialized Monk unit from the Shirabyoshi unit. The Shirabyoshi would maintain public order and spread the Onna Sakura "faith" and be able to incite Sakura Revolts, not unlike an Ikko monk.



Their starting provenience Osumi, puts them very close to Satsuma and the Shimazu. Taking them out early in the game would put the Onna Sakura in a strong position. However, they would not start in control of the provenience, but as a rebel army that must defeat the Ito's garrison. This also presents the opportunity to simply attack the Shimazu even earlier and steal their land.

Like the Cavalry Warrior Nuns and Onna Unit mods, all of their units would be female versions of normal units. I think they should get a charge and melee bonus, at the cost of overall armor. The Onna are faster and more agile, but not as tough as their male counterparts. One could call them Sakura Units.

Example: Sakura Yari Ashigaru, Sakura Katana Samurai, Sakura Naginata Warrior Monks, and so on.

Abilities

• Cannot Recruit Metsuke, Ninja, or Monks/Priests
  
• Can Recruit Geshia and specialized Shirabyoshi
  
• Can train and field Onna Bushi and Warrior Nuns sooner
  
• All units are female; they have a bonus to charge and melee, but less armor.
  
• Generals can convert provenances to the Sakura "faith"
  
• Shirabyoshi act as Monks, and can incite Sakura Rebellions, which if successful come under your control
  
• Clan spawns princesses at a much faster rate than other clans. They can be married off for diplomatic bonuses, or allowed to grow into generals!
  
• Diplomatic penalty due to the "perverse" and "dishonorable" nature of the sect

Lore Bonus!

Fifteen Forty Five. This is Sengoku Jidai. The Age of the Country at War.

War! Pah! What do men know of war? The daimyos grasp at the wind as they ravage our sacred land.

We women have lost everything because of them! Our homes! Our husbands, sons, brothers, fathers, and far too often, our dignity.

Are we to be sheep for samurai to slaughter? No! We Onna Bushi are samurai ourselves. We are teaching our arts to our fellow orphans. Our aim? To turn widows into warriors. An army delicate as flowers, with the hearts of tigers!

Now the time has come to reveal ourselves. No more will the women of Japan suffer the wrath of the daimyos. All will bow to the Onna Sakura. We will wait no longer! REVENGE IS OURS!

We are the Onna Sakura, a confederation of orphans, widows, and samurai women. Our council has elected the Onna Bushi of the Iwakura clan to lead us. For too long we hid in the hills like children, fearing the lecherous spite of the Ito and Shimazu samurai. Now we have grown strong. Taking up arms looted from the battlefield, we make ready to march on Osumi. We aim to pit our new army's skills to the test.

With the elimination of Ito, our next target will be the Shimazu. Capturing their home province will give legitimacy to our revolution, and provide us with a blacksmith. While we lack Metsuke, Monks, or even Ninja, many Geisha and Shirabyoshi have pledged themselves to our cause. The Geisha will slay priority targets, while the Shirabyoshi will keep order in our provinces or can incite Sakura Rebellions from the disenfranchised women of our enemies.

As our influence grows, we will no doubt draw the ire of Kyoto. Should the Ashikaga perceive us as a threat, he will surely rally his subjects against us. No matter. We are the daughters of the dawn! Our lives are not for their taking. Onna Sakura will prevail! Onna Sakura will survive!!!

Conclusion

I do not possess the talent to create mods. This guide is but a humble request for people with the skill to make such a thing reality. At the very least, it is a wonderful fantasy.

There were also Besshikime (別式女, lit. "other-style women"), female guards of the harems and residences of the wives and concubines of daimyō and clan leaders.

This sounds... interesting? Though personally for me, it's a bit too unrealistic for me. Also knowing what I know about modders, best of luck finding someone who will back this train. Not to "rain on your parade", since I do find this idea interesting at least, but this sounds like a lot of work that will only interest a certain portion of the community(plus not to mention how heavily fetishized this feels, but hey, no shame in that!) I think you'll have better luck pursuing something in a discord nation RP server or something. Best of luck to you!
