We Have 2 Types of Mods "Overhaul" and "Standalone"

But What is the difference between "Overhaul" and "Standalone" ?

Its easy , "Overhaul" mods are the mods that can affect , improve every aspect of the game but without changing the original storyline . These mods make the game much more playable for new generations

In the other hand we have "Standalone" mods . Standalone titled mods doesnt need you to buy the original trilogy . They can be played without them , so you can actually play for free . They are mostly massive and big modpacks which can take up 25gb of space on your harddrive . Briefly they present an immersive experience for free!

Autumn Aurora 2

Autumn Aurora 2 is definitely one of the best mods that you can ever play on "Shadow of Chernobyl" . It has new and high quality graphics without making your potato pc go crazy , tons of bugfixes . Also it already has "Absolute Nature 4" and "Atmosfear 3" in it . Everyone "must" try this mod , its amazing !

I recommend this both for the rookies and the veterans

Radiophobia 3 is actually a standalone-overhaul mod . Its standalone so you dont need to download the original game but it already has the original story in it . The main change as we can see is the gorgeous graphics , just look at this..

Old Good Stalker Remastered is an standalone modification for "Shadow of Chernobyl" . Its a fully customizable refreshing experience with lots of features . In this mod the Zone is a lot more alive and dynamic , every time you play it brings you a different experience and random events
Its mainly the original storyline but with few changes and a lot new quests! It still in the developing stage but there are few versions of it which we can download

STALKERSOUP - Narodyana Solyanka DMX

STALKERSOUP isn't just a mod , its a mod family but "STALKERSOUP" is the most updated and the most complete product amongst them . To explain this mod we can say.. its huge...
It has never ending content . It took me 200 hours just for reaching the %75 of it . Every direction you look gives you more quests , more lore , more bugs :D , more ragequits . Yeah this modpack is both huge and hard

Also the modpack includes so many cut content from the game . Cut maps , cut quests , cut mutants..

Not everyone can play this modpack!

Download NSDMX Final Cut As i said there so many soup mods , this is one of the best out of them . In addition this version is not "standalone" so if you want your playing hours to be counted download this one !

NLC7

NLC7 is a "standalone" total conversation mod . It is built on the "Shadow of Chernobyl" but it has so many heavy changes . First of all this mod is harder than hardcore , if you are masochist then this is perfect for you :)
There are some new mechanics but the most important one is the "Campfire Save" system , this means you can't save anywhere else . You have to find a campfire to save your progress . A new inventory system . The mod uses "AMK" mod as its base *a old russian that mostly affects A-Life and other bunch of stuff .

The most important thing that distinguishes "NLC7" from other hard mods is being "fair" , so many hardcore mods makes the game unplayable because to make the game much harder they broke the economics of the game and turns your character in to fragile glass , NLC7 doesn't do these things it actually tries to give you some survival experience



This mod is originated from russian stalker modsites because of this it doesn't have any english modpage or a official english localization but i have a machine-translated english localization pack which you can use

Lost Alpha

Lost Alpha is a "cut content" mod . Its main goal is giving a original "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Oblivion Lost" experience . *The versions which the game was much more promising* This mod nearly gives you the old versions experience . It was made by an huge studio for a mod called "Dezowave" and it is still getting updated a lot

It has so many addons and a launcher too so you can customize your experience

Like "Lost Alpha" , Oblivion Lost Remake's aim is giving us the old and original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. experience . Unlike Lost Alpha this is much more hard :D . When you think you are at the tutorial part some stingray helicopters try to throw rockets at you .
Not everyone.. Not even the hardcore players can easily finish this mod

Vector of Alienation

Vector of Alienation was a addon for "Oblivion Lost Remake" but eventually it became a standalone modpack , it mostly uses the OLR storyline but with some little changes . It's main goal is giving a science-fiction , thriller experience to the player
As i said before , this mod uses OLR as its base . This means you can play this mod instead of it because its pretty much better than that

Also it provides some good addons which you can select and use if you want for example : Modern Weapon Packs addons , HUD changers ,New Sound Effects etc . If you want to see how the original Shadow of Chernobyl looked like , then you need to play this :)

Sky Reclamation Project

Sky Reclamation Project is a community patch for "Clear Sky" . It features fixing almost all the bugs in the game left after the last update to the game in addition it has much more stuff in it like sleeping bags improved gun mechanics , improved stealth mechanics ,real weapon names etc
We can easly say that this is the best starting mod for "Clear Sky" .

ABR CS

ABR Modpack is the latest overhaul mod for "Clear Sky" . It has so many features that i can't even count . improved game engine , finishable faction wars , interface tweaks , fresh graphics , heavy gameplay changes and more . It is easy to install and have tons of little mods already included in it . I suggest beginners to play this mod if they think that "Sky Reclamation Project" doesn't have enough content

Arsenal Overhaul 1.5 Redux

Clear Sky has so many "overhaul" mods but they aren't the same , each one is different than the other .

Arsenal Overhaul Redux 1.5 is one of the best out of them . It has awesome textures that even your potato pc can handle , refreshing gun mechanics as we know from "STCOP" and the "TAZ" gunpacks. The developer still works on this mod and it still gets updated . You can choose ABR CS , SRP or this mod for entering the game for the first time , they are both good

Clear Sky Complete is the middle child of the "Complete" mod series . It mostly changes the visuals and adds gameplay tweaks . I suggest you to play the other overhaul mods because they have much more content and they are up-to-date

LFO - Last Fallout Overhaul

Last Fallout Overhaul is a huge "standalone" overhaul pack . It has a brand new x64 engine with up-to-date graphics and animatons . If you are saying "i don't like to play outdated games , i need shiny graphics" you must try this mod then . It needs 11gb just for download :) .

If your pc can handle this mod don't download the other mods which i told before . This is clearly "The Best" and the "Most Immersive" modpack for Clear Sky . Its still getting updated and its still being developed by the creators , Other big modpack creators are helping LFO's updates . Although it is a large mod, it deserves this size with the content it contains. you should check it out

Call of Pripyat is the last game of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Trilogy , thanks to its customizable engine most of the standalone and big mods were developed with this game's engine . More and more mods are still coming out trough this game .

GUNSLINGER

GUNSLINGER is a weapon related modification for "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat" , as the mods name tell us this mod aims to make the gun mechanics and upgrades much more immersive and playable . Call of Pripyat's original gun mechanics are already good but with this mod its absolutely amazing . Realistic and 3D Pda , fully reworked weapons and weapon textures , new armors and new game mechanics , fixed bugs , laser weapon sights and 3D Weapon Scopes . This mod clearly makes the characters movements and the use of the all weapons more realistic and natural .

Its still being updated and its on beta right now . I both have the original mod link and the latest "unlocalized" version of the mod .
Btw the mod has a "updater" in its directory . Dont forget update your mod when you download

Misery

Misery is a "Full Concept Modification" made by a experienced modding team . It ıs considered to be the ancestor of current "hardcore" mods . Many of the new mods were inspired by this mod . Even though it isn't being updated anymore it's still an immersive mod to play

This mod can give you rage quits , anxiety , nerve diseases , paralysis and much more . The main goal were creating a "ultimate survival experience" and a "realistic zone" . In this mod you have to find yourself food , shelter , ammunition and bunch of other stuff , let me give you an example : you are hungry and you need some food but the food is too expensive to buy so you decide to hunt some mutants! think twice you need to kill the mutant , cut the flesh of it , get a cooking set , put oil in it and check if it's radioactive before eating otherwise you are dead meat

I suggest you the other mods because this is actually a dead mod but the stalker veterans are still trying to speedrun in this

We need to know what is "Call of Chernobyl" ?

In 2015 a modding team called "TeamEPİC" introduced S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Chernobyl to the player , This mod was different from the others , a freeplay mod with storylines . It was the ancestor of nearly all the freeplay mods as we know today

Why im not suggesting this mod? easy . Because it's a bit weak and outdated against what's in the modpage . But as i said nearly all the freeplay mods still use "Call of Chernobyl" as base . So you are actually playing Call of Chernobly when playing other mods

Now im gonna list the most known "Call of Chernobyl" based mods

Call of Pripyat Complete

Call of Pripyat Complete is the last one of the "Complete" mod series . Like its elders it improves every single aspect of the game . Its slightly better than the other complete mods . It has a "Spawner Menu" *many mods don't have this feature , better visuals and much more playability

And as i said in the "Clear Sky Complete Mod" i suggest you to play other overhaul mods because they are more updated and playable . I add this mod to the list because of the spawn menu . You can make mutants , npc fights and film them , its more likely to be a sandbox mod but you can play it for starting the game for the first time if you want to

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly is the most stable and customizable experience among all the mods , Its the biggest and for most people its the best mod ever created for stalker games , it is the most popular and most downloaded mod of ModDB
It is selected as the best mod of the year in 2018 , 2019 , 2020 by the players choice .I don't know how to explain "Anomaly" . First of all this isn't a mod , this is a brand new game . Its the biggest modding project among the modding industry that has ever been created .

It uses the "Monolith x64" special engine , this engine is the newest , latest and most customizable XRay engine variant . If we try to describe "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly" in one word we can say "roleplay" you can be any person you want . An "Honourable Military Soldier" ? an "Unreliable Bandit" or a "Trustworthy Monolith Master"
It has 3 main and a 1 bonus storylines , these are ;

These storylines may contain spoilers so im not gonna talk about them but you need to know that the adventure in this mod never ends...

This is why its so popular when you get bored of the guns in the game booyah! there are tons of gunpacks for you to try , are you sick of this npc models bam! there are hundereds of npc model packs for you . Also it includes the "GUNSLINGER 3D PDA" but with better textures and also being customazible of course :D
The mod is always getting updated both by the fans and the developers there are so many addons to make the mod much more immersive

EFP 3.0 Installation Guide

Dead Air

Some modders wanted to combine the "Misery" and "Call of Chernobyl" to make a freeplay , survival mod . It is called "Call of Misery" . After sometime another team of modders introduced "Last Day" a Call of Misery based mod but with more content . However the "Last Day"s developers abandoned the project . In the end another modding team took the Last Day and updated it into the "Dead Air"

Dead Air is actually Anomaly but harder and with more grey colour palette . If you are bored of the other mods you can check this out and delete it after dying 49 times in the same location :)

SIGEROUS

SGM is a "standalone" overhaul mod which extends the storyline and adds new quests . It's an old Call of Pripyat classic , After being updated for years, people still add new addons and keep the mod up to date .
It also adds so many maps from the other games . Dark valley, X-18, Military Warehouses, Agroprom, Red forest, Cordon for example . Briefly this is Call of Pripyat with full Zone experience . If you are going to enter the stalker mods for the first time , then i can suggest you this mod . It also brings new armors , weapons etc

DoctorX Call of The Zone

DoctorX is a modder which was making additional storylines to the "Call of Chernobyl". At some point he wanted to make his own mod and he made "Call of The Zone" . As i said the guy makes good storylines that means his mod's main goal is making a decent freeplay , storyline mode

Its main features are

• Dynamic, repeatable storyline and hundreds of custom tasks.
  
  
• Dynamic population and a-life, the Zone is far more alive and unpredictable.
  
  
• Dynamic faction relations; the politics of the Zone are constantly in flux.
  
  
• Dynamic anomalies that spawn in random locations and change position with every blowout.

There are better freeplay mods but if you want to play some good story mod you should check it out

A.R.E.A.

Atmospheric Realistic Expanding Addon (A.R.E.A.) is one of the Call of Chernobyl based mods . Personally i think "A.R.E.A." is slightly better than "Anomaly" because A.R.E.A. can be more realistic , colorfull , enjoyable sometimes . Like the others it uses a custom XRay Engine and its a up-to-date mod . Among the "Freeplay" mods Anomaly and A.R.E.A. are the two best mods .

As i said its more realistic than all of the other mods . The guns feel natural , the survival instinct is reflected well and a good stability even on low-end pc

There isn't any excuses that you can say to not play this mod , its amazing you must try

Spatial Anomaly

Unlike the others in the list "Spatial Anomaly" isn't a freeplay mod , its a "Full Story Based" modpack .

In this mod we play as "Beast" a Stalker which is able to withstand the dangers that "Zone"presents to him.It has levels from all 3 games in the trilogy ,

Beast is stuck in a dangerous field called "Spatial Anomaly" and his supplies are going to run out soon . We need to find a way out of this sh*thole and escape . Its a really great storyline , after finishing the original games you should play this mod and learn the "Beast"s story
It has reworked gun systems and visuals of course

Do yourself a favor and try out the other CS mods than LFO. LFO crashed every 20-25 minutes for me. I got 60% of the way through the game and finally gave up. I spent HOURS upon HOURS replaying the same stuff due to the crashes.

I started with cop and anomaly, but want to experience the story of the og but its too dated and only radiophobia and shoc update (still WIP) has the updated graphics so is it good idea to start with radiophobia, as i heard story is completely unchanged only updated combat?

However, more additions to it would be awesome -- talking about the likes of Stalker Legend Returns, Stalker Wind Of Time and other russian Stalker mods like SNIPER, People's Solyanka, Ermak: The Last Raid and the list goes on and on because the russian modding community is actually quite big.
