1.) Get a recycler
First, you must get a recycler in order to trade. In order to get this, you need to head to the first story island (See my guide on story islands). Once you reach the very top, you can find a blueprint for the recycler. Once you have grabbed it off of the whiteboard, it will automatically be added to your research table.

Once you have researched and crafted it, you need a battery. Once you have put a battery in, you can take some unneeded supplies (you need raw materials, such as wood, stone, palm leaves, and bolts) and look into the top, pressing "E" to put it into the recycler. After a bit of time, the top of the recycler will begin crushing the things you put into it. Try your best to fill it to the top.

After 3 minutes, you should get your first trash cube. Keep putting raw materials in until the recycler produces the preferred amount of trash cubes (On average, each trade costs about 3 trash cubes in tier one).
2.) Find a large island
Large islands are larger versions of the commonly seen small islands that you will find around the ocean. Once you find a large island, you must climb to the top of the tallest mountain that you can see. There will be a path circling around the mountain that you can walk on.

Once you reach the top, you will likely see a small house-like area that looks somewhat like the image below.

You can walk up to it and press "E" to open the menu. Use your trash cubes to trade with anything in the tier one menu (You may notice that you need bitcoin to complete some trades, we will get to that in a second). If you want to level up and get to the tier two menu, buy some fishing bait. This fishing bait can be used to level up and get you into higher tiers. It can also be used to get bitcoin.
3.) Fish!
If you want bitcoin and levels, you will need a fishing rod to put the bait onto. Once you have the fishing rod equipped and the fishing bait in your inventory, hold down right click. This will open a menu. Select your fishing bait, which should be lighter than the rest, with a number next to it, which represents the amount you have. Once it is selected, you can start fishing.

The fish shouldn't be the regular fish you normally get, but instead special fish that you cannot eat or cook. Once you run out of fishing bait, head back to the trading post. Click the tab that says "sell". Then, sell all your fish. The XP bar at the top should go up as you sell each fish, and you should get bitcoin in your inventory.

Eventually, you should level up to tier two, and you'll be able to trade in the tier two section. To get better fish to make you level up quicker for the same price as the tier one fishing bait, just buy the tier two fishing bait. Keep fishing and trading!

At last, you'll get to tier three, the last tier. In tier three, you can get amazing things like titanium. However, if you would like to use the titanium, then most, if not all, of the recipes come from the story islands (See my guide on story islands).
4.) Tips
1. The best way, however arguably one of the most expensive ways, to get trash cubes is to put bolts or wool into the recycler. It only takes a few to fill it up.

2. Set up your collection nets in an L shape to ensure that whichever direction you are going, you will get the most items, meaning you can have a lot of spare items for the recycler!

3. Buy a foundation counter. This can help for once you get an engine, because you need one engine for every hundred foundations.

4. If you need help or are stuck, ask me! I am open to questions in the comments.

Thanks for reading, and have a nice day, forward scouts!

Wool is hands down the best material to recycle.

i would argue that wool is best to use for recycler, provided you have the llamas/camels or whatever its called, you only need 2 wool per cube, same as titanium!, ive just grabbed a couple and have had no issues with trash cubes! but i do have free time to waste so you might have to wait a little bit for wool to regrow but wool is arguably the best imo.
