Description
Presenting the ODST Drop Pod, the latest build from Filbert Shipyards!

'Feet first into Hell'

The ODST Drop Pod was built to work with the Drop Pod bays on the UNSC Valhalla (and other future UNSC Series builds!)

ODST Drop Pods are a fun way to deploy your friends to a planet from space for POI raiding or server event activities. The Pod spawns in with directional thrust to allow for easy docking IN SPACE (pods must be docked in space). Once docked the pods can be placed into Drop Mode via the P menu which turns off all but the main drive thrust of the pod. Once launched in drop mode there is no braking, you will go until you splash down on the planetary target. You aim the pods using the ship they are launched from by lining the belly up with the planet surface (parallel)

Each ODST pod features a 625vol cargo hold (set to public) to pre-set with equipment for the mission.

The ODST pods have a cockpit, shutters, and cargo hold that are all set to public. After testing on the Anvil Server (live testing) these pods can be used by people that aren't even in your faction. Anyone can hop in and drop to the planet, perfect for server events!

NOTE: Given that these are DROP pods they cannot fly in atmo, they drop. Even if they are not in drop mode they lack the thrust to maneuver in atmo, so once you break into the atmosphere you are committed to the drop.

Specs:
-625 vol cargo hold
-Orbit -> planetary delivery vehicle

Enjoy!

Note: the core is exposed so that the user (or owner) of the pods can easily destroy the core to keep a server 'clean' once the fun times or server events are over.

@SilentCatFox: go for it! Yeah the drop pods are meant to be as minimalist as possible. The original intent would be to use them in conjunction with other support stuff like the Pelican during a server-type event.

If you have come up with some other pod with more capabilities absolutely share it!

Heya! Really liked the idea behind this.

Would you mind, if I linked your ships for a modified version of this Pod, i wanna post in the WS?
Its not really like this one in design, its just small enough to be put in the droppod-bays.

The reason is, that i couldnt help but think its nice, but lacks some Empyrion-Physics. I wanted to use this in the game, but the thought of dropping with no trauma, no respawn and all, felt... crazy. There are just so many ways to die on ground, so i builded myself a sort-of-droppod meant to be a dropable spawn tube, with medics, fridge and all the survival stuff.

Just dont wanna put this in the WS linking your collection or a few of your works like the Silent Winter, without your permission. Wouldnt state those as my own of course, just so the ppl know, what ships its mostly meant to be used with.

Please? :3
