Dark Force - What is it and what does it do in Vampire Savior and it's sequels?

Vampire Savior
Note: Due to the sheer number of changes, I decided to put Hsien-Ko/Lei-Lei's info at the bottom so as to not clutter the table.

Anakaris
Pharaoh Split
Anakaris' upper half floats in the air while his torso walks around. Pressing attack buttons will instead cause his legs to kick and the only special moves he keeps are Coffin Dance and Royal Judgement
B.B. Hood/Bulleta
Killing Time
Replaces her Punch normals with instant missile attacks, while kieeping the Kick normals intact
Bishamon/Oboro Bishamon
Kogane Katabira
Gives him Super Armour, allowing him to tank a certain amount of damage/consecutive hits before flinching. Makes Bishamon glow yellow for the duration of his Dark Force.
Demitri
Darkside Master
Summons two bats that attack when Demitri does. Also applies to the special moves Demon Cradle and Bat Spin. Does not apply to Chaos Flare and Negative Stolen. Applies to the Midnight Pleasure super move as well.
Felicia
Kitty's Helper
Summons a kitty child that does a jump attack whenever Felicia attacks. Applies to all moves.
Jedah
Santuario (Sanctuary)
Jedah can freely fly around the stage until the timer runs out
Jon Talbain/Gallon
Mirage Body
Creates an afterimage of Jon that is glued to him and will replicate his every move, giving all your moves an extra hit, allowing for more intense pressure and longer combos.
Lilith
Mimic Doll (LP+LK or MP+MK)/Mirror Doll (HP+HK)
Creates a shadow duplicate of Lilith that mimics her every move with a slight delay (about 2 seconds) / Creates a shadow duplicate that shoots behind the opponent and mimics Lilith's every move at the exact same time.
Lord Raptor/Zabel
Ultimate Undead + Ultimate Revenge
Replaces all his normals with large chainsaw attacks; also allows L. Raptor to use a new special move while blocking and during Guard Cancel
Morrigan
Astral Vision
Creates a shadow duplicate that shoots behind the opponent and mimics Morrigan's every move at the exact same time.
Q-Bee
Q-Bee can freely fly around the stage until the timer runs out
Rikuo/Aulbath
Ocean Rage
Creates a wave of water across the whole stage and has Rikuo mount a Manta Ray, allowing him to rise to about mid screen (roughly Lilith's height). Press 3 Kick buttons simultaneously to mount and dismount.
Sasquatch
Big Resistor (LP+LK or MP+MK) + Big Resistor with M.A.P.S (HP+HK)
Gives him Super Armour, allowing him to tank a certain amount of damage/consecutive hits before flinching. Makes Sasquatch glow yellow for the duration of his Dark Force / Spawns a line of penguins that follow Sasquatch and will walk towards the opponent then jump and explode when he attacks with normal moves.
Victor
Great Geldenheim S(LP+LK or MP+MK)/Great Geldenheim L(HP+HK)
Replaces Victor's Punch normals with a grab. His Kick normals remain however. His dash speed increases slightly. / Applies more electricity to his Medium and Heavy normals, while replacing their animations with the close range versions.

Hsien-Ko/Lei-Lei - Rimoukon Effects:
  • Her talisman flies onto the screen, transforming back into her sister Lin-Lin, who remains on the background doing different poses when you move. Once the timer runs outs Lei-Lei will remain motionless while Lin-Lin turns back into a talisman and flies onto her hat. Lei-Lei will become vulnerable for roughly 5 frames afterwards;

  • No idle animation when standing or crouching;

  • Applies Hyper Armour, meaning she will never flinch when attacked or be knocked down, even while airborne, as well as become unable to block, throw or be thrown. Hit Stop still has a slight effect however and may still eat your inputs;

  • She loses access to all her special/EX moves as well as her Pursuit Attack;

  • Cannot Dash or Air Dash and her normal animation is replaced by her running animation, making her walk faster than Felicia, but slower than J. Talbain;

  • She will only do permanent damage (ignores white health);

  • Her damage becomes much higher;

  • All air normals become her J HP and cannot be chained together;

  • All crouch normals become her CR HP (slightly faster);

  • Her normal LP has been changed, her MP replaced with her HP animation and her HP replaced with her Edoga command normal;

  • Cannot chain combo out of light attacks, however it is still possible to link them;




Hunter 2 & Savior 2 Changes
Dark-Force received a complete do-over in Vampire Savior 2 and Vampire Hunter 2. Now when you press a Punch and Kick button at the same time, your character will get buffed instead of having an unique ability. This holds true for every single character. Abilities that would previously be tied to Dark Force are now back to being command inputs just like in Night Warriors/Vampire Hunter 1, although some characters also lost their ability. See section below for specification on who.

Universal Dark-Force attributes:
  • Activated by pressing a Punch and Kick button simultaneously;
  • Costs 2 meters;
  • Activated instantly;
  • No startup or recovery animation;
  • Does not build meter while active;
  • Instead of dealing white/recoverable damage,you'll always do full damage;
  • Roughly a quarter less damage received;
  • Air Chains become usable;
  • EX moves do extra damage, marked by your character glowing red. Certain moves may have an extra animation as well;
  • Taking damage does not drain the timer faster.
  • White damage heals much faster.

Unique/EX Dark-Force changes:
  • Costs 1 meter;
  • Can still build meter while active;
  • Does not trigger an animation and change background upon activation like in Vampire Savior;
  • Does not display a timer;
  • The effect ends upon being hit;
  • Slightly shorter startup than in the original;
  • Slightly shorter recovery;
  • Invicibility on startup slightly reduced;
  • Certain characters can still activate Dark Force (Buff) while the effect is activate, while others like Anakaris must activate it beforehand

Slayshred
Donovan raises his sword above his head. After this his sword starts spinning behind him and he will throw it forward whenever he attacks with a normal move. Loses access to all his special moves. Can still activate Dark Force (Buff) during this.
Huitzil/Phobos
Ray of Doom
Phobos summons two other robots that float behind it and follow it around when it moves and attack simultaneously with a double beam whenever Phobos attacks. There is a delay of about 1 second before they attack again. Phobos can also float indefinitely while this effect is active and use all it's special moves.
Pyron
Shining Gemini
Creates a darker duplicate of Pyron that follows him around and attacks with CR HK when Pyron uses a Punch normal, Zodiac Fire when he uses a Kick normal, Orbital Blaze when he uses a J Punch normal, J HP when he uses a kick normal, and teleports when he does. Uses one of the aforementioned attacks when Pyron uses an EX special move or Super move as well. Every time the clone attacks, he teleports behind Pyron again when he's done.
Missing Dark Force effects
Certain characters with more simple Dark Force effects no longer have access to them in Vampire Hunter 2 and Vampire Savior 2. These characters are:

Bishamon and Oboro Bishamon;
B.B. Hood/Bulleta;
Hsien-Ko/Lei-Lei;
Lilith (restricted to Mimic Doll);
Rikuo/Aulbath;
Sasquatch (restricted to Big Resistor with M.A.P.S);
Victor (restricted to Great Gerdenheim S)

Everyone else that wasn't mentioned has kept his/her original Dark Force ability as an EX move.
