Introduction
You've likely heard of (and seen) the new story islands. But how do you go to the islands? This guide will explain to you how to get to the islands and beat the game. If you have any questions, head over to my account and check out my other guides! I have one on almost everything there is in raft!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Get a receiver
Unfortunately for those who wish to go to the story islands immediately, you'll have to wait until you can get a receiver. You can get this by going into the research table and getting the supplies to research the receiver. Once you have it crafted, create a platform at least two walls up from the floor of your raft. Place the receiver up onto the platform. Also get three antenna to place around at least two walls up from the floor of your raft as well. Once you have these placed, you can get yourself a battery and insert it into the receiver.
2. Learn to use the receiver
The receiver can be used to locate large islands and story islands. When you turn it on, you can see many blue dots throughout the receiver. These represent islands. The distance below the dots tell you how far you are from the island. Your raft is represented as the middle of the +. The islands positions depend on which way your receiver is facing. if you look towards the top area of the receiver screen, then you can see islands in front of the receiver. Islands on the left side of the screen are to the left of the receiver, etc. This all sounds complicated at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's quite easy.
3. How to locate a Story Island
You may have noticed the number on part of the receiver. This number is like a code; depending on what number you put, you will get directions to the nearest island that the code is linked to. But how?

You may have also noticed the weird circle, which seems to be locked on to by corners of squares.
The number that is currently on the receiver is an automatically put in code, which locks onto the first Story Island. You can head towards the locked on circle to get to your first Story Island.

Once you are there, you can collect notes which will be read aloud to you. Captions will also show on-screen. You can use these to figure out the story the previous rafters left behind.

To get to the next island, flip open the tutorial book by pressing "t". You should see a bookmark on the left side of the pages that has the name of the next island and a four digit code. If you don't see the next bookmark that has appeared, re-climb the tower and make sure you collected everything, especially all the notes. Once you are done, head back to your raft and put the new four digit code into your receiver. You can do this again and again until you've explored all the story islands.

Tips
These are OPTIONAL. You don't have to follow them to beat the game. They are just things that I have found make Story Islands easier.

Before you can venture to the next Story Island, you need to find the post-it with the number for the next island. They are different in every game, so you can't skip islands. They are usually in the last room or area.

Bring a friend. Sometimes it's hard to beat the islands alone. Be careful, though, as you will have to use double the materials.

Once you've researched the engine (Note: You need a blueprint!), use your foundation counter. To get one of these, you need to get to trading level two. To level up your trading, you can go to one of the regular large islands. There will always be a trading post. Make trash cubes using a recycler, trade for fishing bait, and get a fishing rod. When you have to rod equipped and the bait in your inventory, hold right click to open a fishing menu. Click on the fishing bait you have. Then fish, and sell the fish at the trading post for bitcoin and levels. For every 100 foundations you have, add one engine to your raft (Ex: if I have 300 foundations, I need three engines). See my article on using a recycler for more information.

Get a fishing rod and fish while on your way to the next island. I find fishing the most efficient way of getting food. I also recommend making soups, if you have the Cooking Pot.

Make efficient equipment. Make sure you've traded up to level two so you can get a foundation counter. To get the foundation counter, you will need Tier 2 at the trading post, as well as 3 Trash Cubes and 4 Trade Coins. This will help you when you are making engines. Or you could just put down a bunch and hope it works.

Take stops in-between Story Islands. I didn't do this a couple of times, and I ran short on resources. This made it very difficult to progress, and once, I even had to leave a Story Island to get more materials!

Make an L shape with collection nets. This'll ensure that whichever direction you go, you get all the loot. This will help minimize resource shortages.

The islands are big! This usually means there is a lot of materials on them. They are mostly scrap and plastic. Clear most of your inventory for loot, and only bring the essentials. (Water bottle, weapons, food, headlight) to maximize your inventory space. Get a backpack if you are planning to be on the island for a while.

Once you get the recipe for a machete, ditch the spears! Machetes are much better until you get Titanium tools.

Make a storage house. This will again, help to minimize food and resource shortages. If you have a large, organized stash of materials and food, you can count on it to pull you through to the next Island.

There are 8 islands, Once you complete the 8th, you should get an achievement for exploring all the story islands.

Make a to-do list. This helps keep your raft organized.

Get more materials then you think you need.

Get a large crop plot and plant a tree in it. If you ever run low on wood, you can use your tree! Just make sure to water it, and when the axe symbol appears when you're looking at the tree, that means you can cut it down.

If you are ever running low on wood or plastic and you really need it, destroy parts of the raft you don't need.

Once you beat an island, you can always put in the code again and head back to the island. The puzzles will be beaten, but the resources/loot that you find will be replenished.
