Welcome To Beetle PSX

This guide is also compatible with Beetle PSX HW.

Prelude: I welcome you to Beetle PSX, this is probably the best emulator (obviously on par with Duckstation / Swanstation) for PS1 games, I do not recommend PCSX ReARMed because it doesn't emulate using a PS1 BIOS and isn't nearly at all that accurate, also Beetle PSX has better performance.
What You'll Need
  • PS1 BIOS (I will not provide a PS1 BIOS here, but you can find them on certain Internet Archival sites)
  • Beetle PSX Installed on your PC/system (check your DLC and check-mark it on the RetroArch Library Page)
  • That's it
How To Import The BIOS
This is the list of BIOS if you're importing, its important to know which BIOS you're importing (or maybe you have all 3 and want to play games that were originally region locked) so you know what kind of games you can properly emulate.

  • scph5500.bin - JP BIOS
  • scph5501.bin - US BIOS
  • scph5502.bin - EU BIOS

If you're importing your own BIOS it may look different, but if it looks similar you should be fine on emulation.

What you want to do is you want to navigate to your RetroArch file directory, you can do this by hitting the gear icon on the RetroArch Library Page and hit Browse Local Files .

Go into the system directory and import it, just a simple copy + paste or drag-drop of your BIOS.
CONGRATULATIONS, THAT'S IT!
That's it! You imported the BIOS and now you have a 100% working PS1 Emulator!
