How to add cars to beamng drive on linux.

This guide will describe how to add cars from automation website to beamng drive on linux machines.

Adding cars.

Go to the automation website: Automation [www.beamng.com]

Find a car you want to download.

For example, I decided to choose this ferrari 360.


Click on big orange button "Download now" in order to download the .zip file.

Import freshly acquired car into the game.

Simply launch the game, and when prompted choose the "Manage user folder option".


Then choose the "Open in explorer" option.


In the following window proceed through the following path:
C:\users\steamuser\AppData\Local\BeamNG.drive\0.25\mods\
(Instead of 0.25 there might be a different number which is okay.)


Then, copy and paste the .zip file into the "mods" folder by using a context menu (right click on the .zip file -> copy, right click on the mods menu -> paste)
After doing so, the .zip file will appear in the mods folder.


Then close the file explorer and all previous beamng windows.
After that, launch the game.

Check your new mods.

After launching the game, click on the "repository" button in the main menu and check if your new car has "arrived", and then click "mod manager".


The car should be loaded.

Test the car.

Newly added cars are displayed at the bottom of the cars list when you load into the game.

Windows user here.

The mini drama that's going on in the comments is just sad, knowing there are people out there comparing OSes like that. It truly doesn't matter what you're using, as long as you, the user of the OS, are happy with what you're using and it satisfies your needs, simply stick with it. Every OS has a set of Pros & Cons, no OS is perfect.

Just don't judge what OS people are using, it's stupid and this definitely isn't the place for it as nobody here asked for comparisons lol.

and for those of you who say "this is automation" yes it is and the installation for normal beamng car mods will be practically the same.

I can't believe how many kids are on here saying "just get windows 🤓" They've got a negative stereotype and think it's actually true.

Windows is just a buggy, malware filled OS where microsoft refuses to let you delete edge off your system because they're insecure about all their services not being used.
