Description
The Boeing AV-8b Harrier II is a light VTOL jet. It is derived from the Hawker Sidley Harrier, and is considered the second generation to the Harrier jump jet family. It retains much of the basic layout of the original Harriers, but payload capacity and range were improved significantly through extensive modifications. Improved structures, lighter materials, and better avionics have allowed the aircraft to remain on service. Vertical takeoff is achieved using the Pegasus engine, with 4 nozzles that can swivel downwards to redirect thrust straight down. It is used as an attack aircraft, and is armed with both missiles and guns, and is also capable of carrying external fuel tanks. It is currently operated by the US Navy, Italian Navy, and Spanish Navy, though is to eventually be replaced by the F-35b.

Creator’s Notes The aircraft will start in a standard configuration, but the nozzles can be swiveled upon simulation start to enable vertical takeoff. The engine will start at idle, and must be throttled up to full power to obtain liftoff. The autostabilizer is automatically actived in VTOL mode, and will automatically shut off when transitioning to horizontal flight.

Ideal landing speed is less than 250 kmh

The cannon breaks the plane pretty quickly.

yes, the engine starts idle and needs to be throttled up to produce thrust
