Odmev-2 Passive Sonar Waterfall Display with Range and Elevation

Описание
A simple passive sonar (hydrophone) that uses parallax for calculating range, with a waterfall display designed to emulate an amber CRT.

Designed for 2*2 monitors, but should work in any monitor size in theory (untested).

To turn on, input an on signal in boolean composite channel 1.

It uses a sticky seat input for cursor control: simply move cursor over a contact, and the system will output a composite signal with its elevation angle in degrees on channel 1, and distance in meters on channel 2.

To set this up, place two sonars, one directly above the other. Configure the MC using select tool, set the distance between sonars and the time (in seconds) between samples.

The compass signal is optional, connect it if you want the display to be north-locked.

Tracks up to eight contacts at once. Let me know if you run into issues due to this, and I will increase it.

Huge thanks to:
- Pufferfish (for help with the display)
- Lassi and Maniac (for help with the ranging math)
- Mopman (for help with RGB and screenshots)

i have been testing with this micro controller for quite a while and i noticed that the range finder calculator is very unstable when making it calculation for distance it is over shooting by 100,000 meters then down to 500 meters when the test motor is right in front of the two sonars you might need to consider remaking the range finder calculator to be more accurate :) cool build though

@GorilaMutila the long vertical line is the cursor. bearing is from 0 (left) to 360 (right)

Thanks a lot! Will tweak it right now!

Btw, the center line is always my heading, right?

@GorilaMutila the distance is the actual distance from center to center, not the gap between them. To make measurement easier, you can measure from the bottom of the bottom sonar, to the bottom of the top sonar. Point the compass in the same direction as the sonar, so normally the bow of the ship.

Keep in mind that the greater the distance between sonars, the better the rangefinding accuracy will be.

Sonar works great and it is pretty awesome having a waterfall display on stormworks. I have a few questions though: how do I calculate the distance between the sonars? Is it the gap between them? And how do I set the compass sensor? Do I orientate it towards the bow of my ship or towards the direction I'm setting my sonar station?

Congrats on this awesome little project! Very, very cool.

@Cromoly, thanks for the explanation.
Mr_SmiLe, sorry for my mistake.

@Dark Spirit thanks for the kind words! What Mr_SmiLe is referring to is the name Odmev, which means Echo in Slovenian.

@Mr_SmiLe I don´t think it´s an active sonar, because only "listen" noisy objetcs around. It don´t "actively" emitts a sound (ping) to hit objects and create and echo to listen to.

I like the interface just because remembers the pasive sonar screens like the real ones in modern submarines. A very original work, congratulations.
