Hollow Knight - How to beat the mantis lords (*SPOILER FREE*)

Having trouble with the treacherous trio of agile doom? Well you're in luck. To assist in the triumph over the mantis lords, here is a step by step guide to the most efficient charms to bring to this fight, each phase of the battle and how to counter it, and a detailed specification of the moveset of this boss and how to bypass it without being killed.

The splendiferous battle - Preperations, locations, and predominant moveset.

Predominant introduction internally

1: Mantis Lords are renowned around the community and subspace over the years this game has manifested in as one of the most difficult bosses early game, that require multitudes of practice due to its fast paced gameplay and difficulty compared to the rest of the malicular bosses at that time in the game internally. The lords are mysterious unnamed mantidfly-like siblings of three who are the leaders of the Mantis Tribe. Upon the spread of The Infection, they were able to resist and fight the plague all throughout the fall of the kingdom of Hallownest. If you are worried about fighting such though, they are an optional boss and the only way to fight them is if you challenge them in the mantis village, the subsequential 4th area you traverse, hidden in the foreign fungal wastes and keeper of the mantis claw, one of the essential items but if you desire to spark your challenging rambunctiousness, lets just say the protaginist your knight will never forgive you! ;)


The charms of luxury!
2: As for charms internally, be sure to have Quick Focus equipped, you'll need that extra speed of recovering health since in this fight, the attacks that will be thrown at you will be so swift that with a usual profuse heal will result in a demise, and yes if that happens, your knight will take his vengance on you! ;) The best time to heal is when they use their boomerang attack preferably from the top, not bottom. Grubsong is another helpful charm since you will most likely get hit by their attacks especially in Phase 2 once you fight the two other mantis intertwined, far more boisterous than the second phase. And finally, be sure to have Thorns of Agony so that you can deal damage even after getting hit, and only once you have beaten the boss will you will get the respect achivement and force all mantis who dare to stare at you to bow down! :) If you are more late present in the game internally, and are planning to use your spells often, be sure to have Shaman Stone and Spell Twister equipped to maximize the effects of your spells. Vengeful Spirit is best used when they cling onto the wall and telegraph their boomerang attack while Desolate Dive and Howling Wraiths is a nice counter whenever they perform the overhead attack, so get ready to destroy the mantis lords and do a little dance after you beat them! ;)



The commence of conflict! The alluring challenge!

For the magnanimous fight, flick a lever predominantly close to where you aqquire the mantis claw and descend through a vast opening in the floor. Once more descend through the miniscule caverns of the room until you reach the boss and the nightmare begins NOW! ;)

3: Attack - Boomerang!
Counter - Watch for the position of the Mantis, if she clutches onto the lower part of the wall the projectile will start from the bottom and will rise up. If it positions itself onto the higher part of the wall, the projectile will start high and then to the bottom before it boomerangs back up.
Attack - Charge attack!
Counter - One of the Mantis Lords will jump onto the platform and charge in to attack. This can be avoided by jumping on top, you'll have the time to jump since there will be a slight delay before it dashes, now DON'T CELEBRATE! We've got more preperations! :)
Attack - Overhead lunge!
Counter - Dash away once one of the Mantis jumps above you and drops onto your position. There is also a slight delay before it actually drops down, this is one of your chances to get 2 hits instead of a puny one!

And don't fret! If you happen to die and get so enraged, your hand is 5cm's away from smashing the computer to shreds, just look at the knight striking a guilty bug and that should be sufficent!

No problem lol, I used that video actually the first time I had problems beating the mantis lords, because unlike most, as the first real major metroidvania I had ever played and the first steam game too, I was raging in a seizure fit lol, yet here I am destroying elden ring and horizon forbidden west on ultra hard, and more to come, truly I am the hollow knight now lmao

I have had my considerable share of problems with the mantis lords but now that I have practiced and played for over 157 hours, it is simplistic and dont need to think at all, watching this video was the first step of how I bet them! :D And learning their moveset is vital!!
