Bubbles The Devourer

Description
WARNING: Very Large, do not use if your PC is a potato.

Bubbles, hunger of the depths, eater of marauders, and the bane of bastions.

These massive relatives to the cuttlefish find their homes stalking the seas below the dreadfog. They're quite well known amongs the White Flayers, who call the lumbering beast "The Devourers". The Flayers occasionally use them as an execution method for the most despicable of condemned heratics. They fly to the edge of the dreadfog in search of their massive looming presence in the sea below. Once one is spotted, the flayers cast the condemned into the sea with nothing but a lifeboat and an oar so they may fruitlessly attempt to flee the death that awaits them. Although they pose a serious threat to slow lumbering ships, they are not hunted by the Flayers, as many amongst them even worship these massive beasts as titan descendents of the Flayed god.

Contrary to the belief of the Flayers, Gray Talon manuscripts record that the first sighting of one of these Leviathans was about 155 years after the begining of the Age of Ascention. This so happens to be just over a decade after a bio research airship from the Tribe of the Crystal Keepers was sabotoged, and it plunged into the dreadfog, never to be seen again. Survivng records show the lab contained a very large juvenile cuttlefish affectionately named Bubbles. It's from this that the children of the Gray Talons, upon looking down seeing their massive profiles through the fog giggle and say "Look! There goes Bubbles!". The Talons being an airborne society cares not to dispatch these lumbering giants, as they cannot attack their airships, as well as also serving as a natural hazzard for any surface vessels that dare try to sneak through the airship patrols and under the cover of the dreadfog.

The most dramatic of sightings was from The Deepwater Guard, when one was spotted approaching Fishbone Island. As the inhabitants of the island panicked in fear, they pleaded to the pirate lords for help. Captain Jacob, seeing an opportunity for great fame and renown, took his Flagship "Jacob's Treehouse" and his prized "Jacob's Delight" and promised to defend the island from the Monster. Within minutes of sighting the beast, Jacob's Delight was sucked into the maw of the monster and its tentacles crushed it to matchsticks in mere seconds. Jacob quickly turned away and fled for shore, hoping only to save his ship from the same grizly fate. Upon their approach to shore, Captain Jacob noticed that the beast had been satisfied, and had begun returning back towards the North. When he came ashore he was aplauded and a great roar of cheers came from those whom he swore to defend, although for him this victory was bittersweet, for this his beloved Delight was a sacrifice he was not ready to make.

They have an enourmous diet, of which ships are definitely on the menu. Although seldom seen, sightings of them as far as the Cauldron of Eriwik have been reported. They're also known to be bottom feeders, consuming material from resource rich parts of the ocean floor. When one strays too close to a faucility of the White Flayers, they often use convicts in motor dinghies to lure the beasts back to the North and away from High Lorham. Although they sometimes need to be coaxed away with bait, they always seem to return to the dreadfog in the Autumn for what many believe to be their mating season. There they raise their young, mostly free of the harassment of trophy hunters and Onyx Watch whalers and under the protection of the Gray Talons above.

Build info:

EMP Harpoons: for nullifying and pulling in prey.

Simple drills and Rams: built into the maw and tenticles, these deal most of the damage, and once a ship is in range, the tenticles close, destroying the ship very quickly.

Can only reliably attack slow surface vessels.

It's main purpose is to devour things like the marauder, Jacob's Folly, Ironclad, bastion, and the like.

It's very expensive (~450k mats) and does not provide anything exceptional for campaign.... although.... If you have the mats and don't care, it can also harvest materials, and has enough containers for well over a million material storage. unfortuntely being mostly submerged, a refinery was not reasonably possible.

I didn't know someone else also had the idea for a giga-squid lol. That thing is amazing, and perhaps a reasonable point of reference for other people interested in recreating cyborg-looking aquatic lifeforms. Do you have plans on making some sort of ***Mother*** ship such as using a sac which can deploy many juveniles or nah?

A massive juvenile squid like creature called Bubbles? Impossible! Such a thing could never exist in our Galaxy. But a really stellar(is) build.

Now, this vs the Dephian

that would be really cool! to be honest having a monster faction that randomly attacks forces that stray beyond the map border would be cool, but probably shouldn't drop any resources so people don't farm them.

if only this could appear at the map border instead of a disappointing forcefield.

This is the most perfectly fitting lore i've seen. (though grey talons do hunt big sea beasts :( ... )
