In this guide, I will list all currently existing hats related to the USSR in tf2
(I wrote this guide because there was nothing to do)

Officer's Ushanka

Well let's start with the classics Officer's Ushanka. It's just a standard Soviet ushanka with a gold star.

As there is little information on it, I will give a historical reference: The prototype of the "hat-earflaps" was the "Kolchak cap", which became widespread in the White Army of A.V. Kolchak in 1918-1919. Later, the fashion for earflaps with a round crown spread in the working environment of Petrograd, and then throughout the USSR.

And the gold star may resemble the medal of the Hero of the Soviet Union, the highest state award awarded in the USSR. Which was issued for performing a feat or outstanding merits during the fighting.

Pilotka

Well, it's just a Pilotka with a team color star.

Historical background: In the Russian Imperial Army, the cap appeared in 1913 as an element of uniform in aviation and aeronautical units. It was introduced as a compact folding headdress so that the pilot could carry it with him in his pocket or in his bosom and put it on after the flight instead of a leather helmet. The cap was worn by pilot officers during flights and service at the airfield. At the end of 1915, the cap was also introduced in military schools, sometimes it was also found in the infantry.

Katyusha

This is a headdress of Russian pilots / tankers, specially designed to protect against the cold during winter.

The item is named either in honor of the legendary BM-13 Katyusha combat vehicle, or in honor of the ANT-40, also a well-known Soviet bomber, or in honor of the famous song of the same name.
