Description
Get the Flu, Join the Mob.

Greetings fellow hoodlings, like me you were happy to see the new common infected included in the Last Stand update. However once I saw they were mostly unaltered beta infected textures I thought there was some areas they could be improved on. So my plan was simple, recreate all the beta textures with the valve retail style but keep the original TRS designs and skingroups.

This is the result.

The major selling point of this over other mods is that I haven't just toggled off the scum and grime layers in photoshop, I've fully done them from scratch using the retail L4D1 textures as a base, so they still retain some of the grime and scum but to a lesser more toned down extent.

The next major thing is the heads. In the later years of L4D1's development it was decided to use the same textures on multiple different head models to give the illusion of more variation. While there is nothing wrong with this and its a smart and cheap way to get results, I think that you get a lot of strange looking faces by doing it. TLS also seemed to assign the wrong heads too, resulting in some really shonky looking heads.

I have decided to stick to the original method of having only 4 textures per head, while that may sound bad I can assure you that it results in much nicer looking infected (and its beta so you cant hate). Workers will only have worker face textures, Suits will have Suits, etc. Some faces have been tweaked to make the colors of the infected more consistent and reduce neckseams on the females. I have added a few all new face textures directly inspired by the beta textures to replace some really poorly done faces that got added quite late in development too.

As for bonuses, any low resolution textures have been remade to full quality. I have restored the original National Guard infected's head and gave it matching retail textures to boot. I restored an unused female suit lower to give them a tad more variety. I also gave them all their original L4D1 animations, so no more scuttles and weird spazzing (L4D2 CI will still use their own animations). Finally, I restored some of the facial bones that got cut when TLS recompiled them.

TL:DR
  • High Quality Vanilla+ Textures
  • L4D1 Animations
  • Restored Content
  • Better Facial Animations

With that monolith of preface out the way, Enjoy!
I had fun working on this and I hope you enjoy using it!

P.S
If you think the title is too vain, feel free to call it Cuba's Complete Corrected Consistent Common Infected Overhaul.

Great! Hope you don't change too much though; I just found it and I really like it so far.

This only effects normal common infected, so most mods should still work if you load them over this one.

if i put this on top of the other ci mods i have, will those mods take effect instead of this one (for the infected i already have mods for, ofc)

Quick question. Could this work as a l4d1 mod in the current state that its in right now or would that require an entire different version?
