Portland (Althist)

Description
Portland an Alternate History:
Portland is weird, no... not that catch phrase they stole from Austin. With the development of hydroelectric dams in the region; electricity was plentiful and the people there kind of went crazy with electrified rail and streetcars. They were literally building streetcar lines to new neighborhoods as a means to sell real estate. This peaked in the 1920's right as America's love affair with the automobile ignited and started creation of national highways (such as U.S. Route 66). By the 1940's most of the streetcar lines were gone and by the 1970's a lot of the interurban rail was replaced by the Interstates.

So, this map is a mix of 1920's and 1940's Portland. Some of the shorter streetcar segments downtown are represented by gravel road, upgrade/bulldoze as you want. Remember, once you're ingame it is your Portland and the roads put down before you are just historical guides. Guides that should be changed and adapted to your own city's needs. Also, the vehicle outside connections are reduced to national highways (2 lane two way), so lean on the ships & rails to keep cargo moving.

Is my other Portland layout on this map. It has the modern Interstates, railroads, and light rail system.

I recommend using Vanilla++ roads:

Huge shout out to Cameron Booth for years of research put onto maps. Courtesy hat tip to the USGS, US Army Engineers and all the surveyors out there who are/were measuring the worlds I recreate in games.

I got it done! The dummy traffic now strongly favors 30 and 26. Some flow over burnside, some down 213. 99E and 26 will become a problem after some time, I'll leave that for you to figure out as you play.
