The Very Basics to KAT.
By Fake Man Man
The Very Basics to Kat by M.Wills (Or Fake to others.)

Good Morning/Evening Everyone, today I intend to give you all the basics to KAT medical in a way that isn't bloody mind-numbingly confusing to most folk. Although if you are having trouble, it's always good to hit up the KAT discord for assistance. (For example I got real confused on chest seals so I went there to gain knowledge about it.)
(NOTE: This Guide presumes you are already knowledgeable on ACE medical for interaction reasons.)

First though, let us get onto our starting Section.

Bandages!
Bandages, Surgery and bloody blood.

Ah, good old bandages... The OG medical items. Well, let's get to it shall we?

The first thing I should talk about if Injuries and their severity. They go in this order. (From Most Severe to Least.)

  1. Avulsion
  2. Velocity
  3. Laceration
  4. Cuts (Mostly dependent on size.)
  5. Crush
  6. Puncture
  7. Abrasions
  8. Contusions

When treating someone, you should always prioritise wounds from most to least harmful.

It's also good to note here that different bandages have different reopen coefficents and such. I shall be noting down the advantages and disadvantages to them below.
Efficiency = Bandage Efficiency | Reopening chance: Reopening chance when advanced wounds are enabled, lower is better.

  1. Field Bandage, High Efficiency and Okay Reopen Chance.
  2. Packing Bandage, High Efficiency and High Reopen Chance
  3. Elastic Bandage, Very good Efficiency and High Reopen Chance
  4. Quikclot, Decent on both sides...
Surgery
----

Next part, Surgery.

Surgery is straight forward, simply get all wounds bandaged and you'll be able to sew them up and prevent them from reopening... Pretty simple eh? Sadly, if the person has their whole body buggered up, it's going to take a while. This is best done last unless they have Large Velocity or Avulsion wounds.
Blood and Circulation
----

Blood! Oh my lord it's blood!

Alrighty, now to the actual KAT stuff. First we'll go simple with blood, with KAT. Everyone has a blood type which can be in Four Catagories. A, B, AB, O.

O is the universal Donator (So what you should be carrying all the time if possible.)
AB is the universal receiver (They can take just about anything, useful for sure.)

With an IV start kit, you can give other people blood. Be careful not to give them the wrong type (Usually their own or O.) as that will in most cases cause death. If you somehow bugger that up, simply feed them painkillers (Found in the Magazines category, hell if I know why.) and pray.

Blood pressure should usually be under 140/80 or above 80/40.
Airways!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Airways and Breathing.

Oh boy! The painful part, especially for the writer.

Alright, let's start with airways. When you click on the head of a incapacitated individual, you will be able to check their airway management. Two things are very important here... Occlusions and Obstructions. Let's start with the prior.

----
Obstructions! (Aka, "how does this man have so much vomit?")

Simply put, Obstructions are when the throat is blocked well... by an Obstruction. (Duh.)

In almost all cases, this will be the case unless your patient has been specifically been shot in the head or chest. (See Occlusions and Chest seal)

To check this, simply go into the medical menu of your patient and go to the head > Airway management > Check airway. This will tell you the current state of the patients Airway.

To fix an Obstruction, you have two options.
Accuvac: A vacuum for the throat, only usable by medics (usually) and has practically a 100% of working.
Head Turning/Hyper-extending head: Low effectiveness but if your not a medic, this is all you have to keep your buddy alive. For the love of god, do not stop turning.

----

Occlusions (Otherwise known as Smokers Neck Hole.)

Simply put, this is where either the airway of your patient has a hole in it or it has collapse completely. There are two ways of remedying this.

Geudel Tube: I found this to be the most effective way to fix an Occlusion (No data to backup :/)
King-LT: Lighter yet seemingly less Effective (Again, no data. Bully me if I'm wrong.)

And with that, the patients blood Sp02 should be raising... Talking about 02....

----

PNEUMOTHORAX

Oh boy... Chest Compressions.

Basically, you notice the Sp02 dropping rapidly. Head to the chest region immediately and place chest seals, then pray to allah your guy doesn't die.
Sp02?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sp02...? What the hell?

So, when the airway is Punctured or Blocked. Your patient will lose Sp02, this is important. Losing 10% of Sp02 is liable to make you incapacitated. Losing 90% of your Sp02 WILL KILL YOU. So it is imperative if you have no major issues at the time to deal with this first.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Misc Medical Items
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[/h] KAT medical equipment. (Otherwise known as the funny medical toys.) [/h1]

I'll just list out the Medical tools and what they do. Good plan, great plan.

AED

A simple AED, this will kill someone when used when they have a heart rate.

AED-X

A neat little tool, doubles as a heart rate, Sp02 and blood pressure monitor. Extremely useful to have on ya.

Oximeter

When Placed on a arm, will simply tell you the Sp02 count. Simple :p

Painkillers (And by Proxy, morphine)
While Morphine decreases heart rate (Which can be dangerous) and give a bigger punch of pain-removal, painkillers do not influence heart rate (but will raise blood pressure.) while giving a lower punch. Simple.

Adenosine
Lowers heart rate and blood pressure, useful to counter epinephrine or prevent a heart attack.

Epinephrine
Heightens heart rate and blood pressure, used to prevent a crash in heart rate.

Just a quick thanks
I didn't expect this to actually be viewed by many others then my little group and I'm rather thankful to this platform and everyone who uses this information that they're using my little guide for their medic'ing needs.

In essence, thanks for making this blow up as it did.

(Quick note: A more in-depth and more thoroughly crafted guide is on da wei.)

Though that was made more specifically for a group I was in, I wouldn't use it as a overall guide but more like a personal Lab book of mine.

Planning on making a Revamp with the new update. Should probably note the version to KAT this relates to.
