IJN Hakuryu - Heavy Aircraft-Carrier

Background History:

After the Allied defeat in WWII, a cold war between the two dominant victors, Japan and the German Reich emerged. In an effort to secure the place as global superpower, massive modernizations and investments were made to both nations´ navies, building larger ships with even larger cannons and aircraft compliments.

The heavy Aircraft-Carrier Hakuryu was first drafted at the height of the world war, was then however recycled,
undergoing significant changes to accommodate for carrying and launching more and larger Aircraft as well at Helicopters,
while also adding an armament strong enough to repel any raiders the Reich might deploy for years to come,
be they air- or sea-born. The ship was also equipped with advanced Air and Sea RADAR for threat detection and strike coordination.

The ship-born armament comprised 14, side mounted, 80mm autoloading dual cannons with semi shields, able to deliver effective fire at relatively long ranges against air and sea targets.
To mount these cannons, large platforms had to be installed on the sides, also making the massive drought of 14m necessary.
The ships primary weapon however is its compliment of 50 (stored unfolded) attack aircraft and 3 transport and assault helicopters.
Planes can be launched in squadrons of 5 using the forward catapults.
(It is advised to activate planes with an about 1 second delay between each other in tactical mode for nice looking squadron formations.)

The Anti-Air armament is made up of 22 40mm dual Bofors auto-cannons, delivering highly effective ranged fire, as well as 10 single 25mm machine-guns for close defense.
Learning from the pacific war, the ship was strategically covered in AA-Cannons, giving it good 360° spotting and firepower.
The command-deck and rather exposes cannon magazines were also protected with additional AA-Emplacements.

The ships powerful engines propel it up to a flank speed of up to 34.5 knots under perfect conditions, while also being highly fuel efficient, thanks to new cooling systems.
