The M1 Abrams is a third-generation American main battle tank

There are three main operational Abrams versions, the M1, M1A1, and M1A2, with each new iteration seeing improvements in armament, protection, and electronics. Extensive improvements have been implemented to the latest M1A2 System Enhancement Package version 3 or SEPv3 and M1A2 SEPv4, respectively) versions such as improved composite armor, better optics, digital systems and ammunition.

APS (Active Protection System) Usage:

The MBT features a working Active Protection System, in its most basic form which comes stock with the tank, the defence system comes with Soft Kill APS, meaning it disturbs incoming radar guided missiles or rather APN missiles. It does this by firing chaff slightly next to the tank and in hopes that the missile goes for the chaff rather than the tank. The chaff has a radar signature which is why this would work. This does this by using the two on-board radars which are used for various other systems and it uses this to point out incoming threats and deploy countermeasures autonomously.

RWR (Radar Warning Receiver) Usage:

The RWR is a part of the APS in the way it is activated, once activated the driver will receive notifications as to when the MBT detects a radar signature, if the unknown/ enemy radar is in a scan, the driver will hear a 2 short beeps and on his RWR Panel, the indicator will flash, the beeps may vary depending on the incoming radars sweep speed (FOV). This can explain why you may hear 1 short quick beep or the opposite. However when you hear non stop beeps this means you have been locked onto, this doesn’t necessarily mean something bad depending on the situation but a check should be done to make sure it wasn't a buddy spike “friendly locking onto friendly”. You will not know if a missile has been launched (unless the radar picks it up, unlikely but possible), or even the direction. This is just a limitation with Stormworks as Radar Detector blocks do not give cardinal directions but rather an on/ off signal.

LWR (Laser Warning Receiver) Usage:

The LWR (Laser Warning Receiver) is a passive 280 degree scan (Not the front) which seeks for incoming lasers from other vehicles or objects. The Frequency at which the LWR scans at can be changed at the commanders station to his far left on the Keypad. The LWR is set to 0 as default as most lasers will be, but this can be changed if you want to have a friend in another vehicle and don't want to receive false positives from their vehicles scanning you. NOTE: If another enemy vehicle is scanning you on a wavelength that you are not on, you will NOT be notified, there is no way for you to know what frequency they are on. This also only works for lasers which are set as Infra-Red which are done so on most vehicles.
