Recommended Method

There are 2 permanent locations for Somacords in the Vallis, Just above Fortuna's exit gate, and just behind the Spaceport. *Note, this method only works post New-War*

At the time of writing this 2:06 AM 3/12/2022, you only need to scan the first of a set by finding it on the map, you cannot scan fortuna's first as it will show as completed. After you have scanned the first of the set from somewhere on the map (but not the permanent locations), you can scan the one just above Fortuna again and again. You can do the same with the one at the space port but that one is a bit finicky, sometimes it will allow a scan sometimes not. At most per session (as in without exiting the Orb Vallis) you can scan 3 (three) tones. Although I recommend just finding the first of the set and then scanning Fortuna's and entering fortuna and reloading to refresh.

1.Go solo in Orb Vallis to avoid interference.
2.Use teleports and Golden Instinct at each location to locate first song fragment.
3.If nothing is found, abandon the mission and re-enter Orb Vallis. Repeat the process at every teleport point.
4.After finding the first part of a song, return to Fortuna.
5.Rejoin Orb Vallis three times because you can complete the song scan on the roof of Fortuna in Orb Vallis.
6.Once a song is complete, re-enter Orb Vallis and use Golden Instinct at each teleport to start hunting for the next song.
7.Golden Instinct Tip: After activating it and seeing the direction, use your Archwing to fly toward the marked area. Archwings have better radar range for loot.

Commenting on 10/13/2024 to say that this STILL works and is still helpful.

I've been wanting the "We All Lift Together" song for YEARS and just couldn't make the effort to search the entire Valis all the times. The consistent spot on the tower meant it was worth the effort to find one piece and then get the other 4 or 5 segments almost instantly.

There's another somachord at temple fabrication. If you look at the wall on the map the somachord fragment is at the top of the C closest to the road, it's also a permanent fragment so you can actually get 4 fragments, 3 permanent and 1 nomad per orb vallis run.
