Basic Functionalities Often Asked

Hello, and welcome! I often see these kind of questions asked in the Official Discord (and probably on the Steam Forums as well), so here are a few tips to help you.

(Note that I will use default controls)

!!!ALSO DO NOT ASK ME FOR CONTROLLER HELP, YOU CAN HAVE A LOOK AT THE KEYBINDS IN YOUR SETTINGS TO MAKE MOST OF THESE TIPS WORK FOR YOU, THANKS FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING!!!

General tips

• You can press R to sort your inventory.
  
• You can press Q to directly send matching items between your inventory and the current chest you're looking at. Still of use, but a button has been added to the chest's UI to do the same. We can also sort the chest with the other button, but to my knowledge, there's no keyboard shortcut for it yet.
  
• You can press the hotbar keys when hovering over an item to send it on the respective slot (or switch it with what's currently in the slot).
  
• You can press Shift + Left Click to quickly send items to chest/equip item.
  
• You can press Shift + Right Click to select half of a stack.
  
• You can press Ctrl + Right Click to select stacks of 10 every click.
  
• You can use the Right Click to select 1 item on a stack (also, keeping the button pressed down allows to quickly add more and more items).
  
• You can press Shift while controlling your character to automatically switch to torches (if you have at least 1 in your inventory). Very nice tip as it allows you to save a slot in your hotbar. (Thanks to Iggels on Discord for reminding me about this!)
  
  
• A tip by Asya on Discord for sorting your chests (as it is currently not a feature):
  
  "I'm going so far as to empty my inventory in another chest (let's say chest B), picking up chest A, sorting in my inventory with R and then putting it back in chest A in the right order."

Character stuck

If your character is stuck, there's a button in the Settings ==> Gameplay Settings to unstuck it.

Be aware that it will kill your character as I've read in a comment about it on Discord (and never tried it myself).

Ok, I was thinking about Hardcore characters, and apparently, according to ChemAtDark on Discord, using this on one will also kill you, but not count as a death that would delete your character, and can claim your tombstone/items as if it was a normal character. Go complain at them if you lose your HC character!

Delete Worlds/Characters

From the main menu, go to Settings and it will be here between Controls and Credits. You will then be able to select between removing worlds or characters, do not be afraid to press the button, it won't erase everything (I prefer to specify this because the first time I saw the button I was afraid to press it and lose everything).

Hopefully they put that feature where it belongs in future patches.

No problem, maybe you could suggest your idea of point and click movement in the forums or Discord server though! Accessibility is important.

Did you try controller maybe? I didn't myself, but it's pretty functional. Else, you'd have to do as I advised, or with defaults.

bummer, point click move games are easier for me. Played a gazilion hours of chronicon and nvr had to figure basics out...This looks awesome tho...i will try again ...

Nope, I'm afraid you cannot use your mouse to move. Unless you have many buttons on it. (You'd have to bind each direction separately)
