How you can postpone or disable rifts for more enjoyable experience.
By Chase Mate
WH taking too long to add a simple option to disable rifts so it's time we took this into our own hands.

1.Install RPFM it'll be first one that pops up, scroll down on the gitfile page and install the Zip file not the other 2 bellow it.

2. Open it up, but before doing anything at all like in the photo above go to preferences you can find this at the far top left drop down option that says PackFile and then settings within the preference select your default game if it isn't already and tick the box that says allow editing of CA packfiles and save it.

3. Next go to the top left again (where it says PackFile), then select NewPackFile find your Warhammer III
directory mine is here and navigate to what you see here all steam versions should be the same.

C:\STEAM\steamapps\common\Total War WARHAMMER III\data
Within this folder find the Data.pack file back it up if you want to and select it. Next it's a walk down hill and with my settings you should have a much more enjoyable experience.
(even tho you can just verify steam WH3 files later to restore this specific one)

FOLLOW PHOTO ABOVE THAT'S ON THE FAR RIGHT SIDE BEFORE TRYING TO CHANGE ANYTHING,
Navigate when opened up the Data.pack file, through these.
Script
Campaign
wh3_main_chaos
realms
PICK THE FIRST ONE YOU SEE from the drop down menu then simply hit CTRL + F when in the Chaos Realms script file and search rifts it should take you to what i have edited and put the same stuff in it that you see above only changing the 2 to a 9 in AI strength level needed and also uping the rifts open after close up to 70. That's all i did and my game is running excellent.
You will still get the Ursans roar is coming in the first 25 or however many turns but after that it wont come through till turn 73 and it will always tell you after that 10 turns or 5 prior to them opening when they will be opening :)
Seems very stable but even tho you can just verify WH3 on steam still make a back up of that specific Data folder if you are still not convinced, then load WH3 up you may have to start a new campaign but it is so worth it. This game without the realms takes that specific pacing off the game and just makes it alot better and more enjoyable, there other guides out there on how to disable the rifts but i personally like them they just happen to often and the AI being able to win them is a horrible racing feeling that should not be in the game in the first place or have an option to toggle it.

I think this would work with multiplayer too! I can still play my own saves from before using these settings in files and it changes nothing about the rifts in those saves. Once CA eventually add an option for the rifts to be turned off you can just simply verify your steam files after deleting that specific pack file it is so easy and took me like 10 mins when watching a video. Hope this helps people out there <3.

@Magic you know you can just get a mod on the steam workshop that adds this as a toggle now, right? this was only necessary before workshop released

Thanks for this. If players then want to disable the rifts appearing then go to line 1696 - I changed Ursons roar count to + 0, which stops it from happening.

Original credit is not mine this is simply my own settings for it not sure who came up with it but they are genius. Off to WH3 now post here for any questions I hope this gets to more people out there so they give it the chance the game deserves.
