Keyboard-using Tarnished! - A Decent Control Scheme
By Lyyti
Are you a mouse and keyboard user like me? Are the default bindings not to your liking? Here's a guide on how to stop the headaches and get yourself a good control scheme! I've used some variation of this control scheme for Dark Souls 1, 2, and 3; Sekiro; Metal Gear Rising; and Monster Hunter.

The Ingame Key-Config
Here's a screencap of all the key bindings for this control scheme. You can click to maximise it!
Some Ingame Settings for Keyboard and Mouse
Setting the Menus to Display Keyboard Prompts
Go to the "Sound and Display" category in settings, and set "Device to On-Screen Prompts" to "Keyboard and Mouse".

In-game Mouse sensitivity Being too High

Depending on your mouse settings, your camera may be too high of sensitivity, even at the lowest setting in-game. If you have a somewhat higher end mouse, a good way of getting around this problem is setting your mouse's DPI lower and adjusting the ingame "Mouse Sensitivity" setting afterward.
Control Scheme References
The Main Control Scheme

This is the one that you'll have if you copy the settings exactly.

Alternative Control Mappings

This reference sheet features other good, alternative mappings for several controls.
Feel free to mix and match the controls here with the previous control scheme, in case you prefer some of these mappings over the other!

Control Scheme for No Extra Mouse Buttons

This control scheme is made with a lack of MB4 and MB5 in mind.
If you lack those thumb buttons, something like this is probably the best control scheme for you.

I've been beating FS games with my trusty 10 euros mechanical keyboard. Thanks for this guide ! Now I can finally use the light attack on unseathe skill. I could only use the Heavy attack until I read this.

My controller is having stick drift issues, to the point where I can't use it anymore. I tried using KBM, but it feels so awkward. Maybe this will help.

This game is easier on mouse and key board.

I'm not gonna buy a controller to play a keyboard compatible game lmao

Man, this isn't terrible or anything but it does make me desire to write up a guide on my own keybinds. We all have room for improvement here thanks to FS. It's unfortunate, really. You will not get completely fluid gameplay from these keybind options without a 3-side button mouse, instead of a 2-side button mouse.

Is there a way to change the menu to anything other than Esc? Swapping equipment during fights is so hard fr me, becaue the Esc key is at such an awkward position.

How did you even change your G key to put whatever you want?

It says the G key is already being used on something else by default, but I can't find that something else anywhere; please help!

Personally I map left arm attacks to Shift,Q, (or MB4, MB5) dodge to Space.and jump to F

The pouch access is:
E + mouse wheel up/down = up/down slots
E + Shift + mouse wheel up/down = left/right slots

E + LMB / Shift = 2-hand right/left armament

G, Y = hardcoded to map and 'right stick press'

Mapping of controller prompts to keyboard bindings
Menu = Esc
View/Action (2-linked squares) = G (help, map)
A = (Event action) E
B = (skill) Q
X / Y = (use item) R / (jump) F
LB / RB = (switch right hand armament) Z / (switch left hand armament) X
LT / RT = Up/down arrows
Right stick press [R] = Y
