Tells how to install mods that will let you: play WorldBox in 3D, edit traits, add even more traits, make literal gods, control your god units, and even more in this somewhat simplified guide! :D

Hello! Welcome to my guide on how to install mods on worldbox.
This guide will be consistently updated for new WorldBox versions and mods.

I'll be showing you how to install 3 different mod types for 4 different mod loaders:
BepInEx, NCMS, the native mod loader, and Assembly C-Sharp.
All mod types except Assembly C-Sharp can be used at the same time, so no need to worry about deleting one for the other to work.

BepInEx allows you to install mods that're .dll files. Modders who use the native mod loader also use .dll files in a different location



NCMS allows you to install mods that're .mod video files









Assembly C-Sharp replaces the original Assembly C-Sharp file





Make sure to look at the attached images throughout the guide to understand what you're doing! The locations of the files can be seen at the top of posted images!

A Extraction/Unzipping tool like 7zip is required. 7zip 64-bit x64 is linked here for free.
After downloading 7zip, launch it, wait for it to finish installing, then close it. It'll run passively in your folders and allow you to extract/unzip folders and do the opposite to them.

If you can't find the file location of worldbox, right click WorldBox in Steam, hover over Manage, and then click Browse local files

How to install NCMS and NCMS Mods

1. Open WorldBox and go into your settings. Scroll to the bottom and enable
   Experimental mode, which is required for your mods to work. Then close the game.
   
   
2. Go to this link and download the most recent version of NCMS which at the moment is 1.4.1.

3. ---Unzip the NCMS zip by right clicking it and then clicking Extract All to Downloads folder.
   ---Unzip the NCMS zip by right clicking it and opening it with 7zip or your other file archiver, then extract it to Downloads folder.
   
   
4. After unzipping NCMS, copy/move the NCMS.dll file into this folder location:
   C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\worldbox\worldbox_Data\StreamingAssets\Mods
   (location may be different depending where your game is installed, like the D: drive may be
   D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\worldbox\worldbox_Data\StreamingAssets\Mods)
   
   
   
   
   
5. Run WorldBox as an administrator by right clicking the worldbox.exe and click "run as administrator", and wait until the game is fully loaded.
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
6. Try to open the NCMS Mods Menu by pressing the M button, or by clicking on the NCMS button in the main tab.
   If the Mod Menu opened, NCMS was installed correctly. If not, try again from point 2, but running as an admin, reread, and look at the attached images more carefully.
   
   
7. Now you can install NCMS mods into a newly created folder.
   It has the same name as the folder we put NCMS.dll into but is an entirely different folder, so don't get confused between the two folders.
   The new folder is located at:
   C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\worldbox\Mods.
   In the worldbox folder there should be a worldbox.exe in it.
   
   
8. Extract/unzip the zip folder of the NCMS mod you have chosen like Powerbox.zip. Inside the extracted zip may be a folder, and inside that folder should be .mod video file, which is the Mod itself.
   
   
9. Place the video file of the mod into the new Mods folder, such as Powerbox.mod or Worldresilience.mod
   Click the image to get a closer look at it to make sure you followed the instruction correctly
   
   
   
   
   
10. Launch the game, and your mods should automatically be loaded and activated in the M menu. If not, reread the guide more carefully, look at the attached images and click to enlargen them, and if you still need help, ask in the official discord's help channel.
    
    
11. When it's time to update your NCMS, delete the old NCMS.dll and NCMS folder and replace it with the new NCMS.dll
    When you need to update your individual mods like Powerbox, delete the old one and put in the new one.

How to install Assembly-CSharp Mods

!Warning! Assembly C-Sharp mods drastically alter your game, and can cause other mods to not work. Outdated mods break the game itself.

1. --Backup your existing Assembly-CSharp file to a folder you can retrieve later, like Downloads.
   You can find the file at
   C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\worldbox\worldbox_Data\Managed
   --Alternatively you can just delete the Assembly-CSharp file and follow the last instruction
   
   
2. Install the mod from the gamebanana or download link and unzip/extract it
   
   
3. Place the new Assembly-CSharp file in the Managed folder you moved the old file from.
   
   
4. Boom, your mod is installed.
   
   
5. If you want to uninstall the mod, remove the Assembly-CSharp mod file and replace it with the old one.
   
   
6. If you didn't save the old one and want to revert back to normal WorldBox, follow this short miniguide for verifying integrity of files which will add the old one back after you removed the modded one:
   ---Verify Integrity of files by:
   -----a. Right click worldbox in steam
   -----b. Click properties
   -----c. Click local files
   -----d. Click verify integrity
   -----e. You are done.

How to install Native Modloader Mods

1. Extract/Unzip your mod. It should be a .dll file, but isn't a BepInEx mod
   
   
2. Go to the Mods folder that contains NCMS.dll, not the same folder that has your NCMS mods.
   If you don't know where that is, it's
   C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\worldbox\worldbox_Data\StreamingAssets\Mods
   
   
3. Extract/unzip your chosen mods, (some mods don't come in zips), and inside may be a folder, and inside that folder will be a .dll file, which is your mod.
   
   
4. Place your .dll file like CrazyBox.dll or CultureUI.dll into the Mods folder. They must be named EXACTLY as they were downloaded. They cannot be named such as CrazyBox(1).dll or Crazybox.dll
   
   
5. And you're done! Enjoy your mods!

How to install BepInEx and BepInEx Mods

As of current BepInEx is fully updated.

1. Go to this link and download the most recent version of BepInEx which is 5.4.19.0.
   Make sure to download the x64 version which is for Windows and not the unix version which is for Mac and Linux.

2. ---Unzip the BepInEx zip by right clicking it and then clicking Extract All to Downloads folder.
   ---Unzip the BepInEx zip by right clicking it and opening it with 7zip or your other file archiver, then extract it to Downloads folder.
   
   
3. Look inside the BepInEx_x64_5.4.19.0 folder. There should only be 4 files in it. The 4 files should be:
   
   changelog.txt
   doorstop_config.ini
   winhttp.dll
   BepInEx
   
   If not, uninstall all your BepinEx files and reread instruction 1.
   
   
4. After unzipping BepInEx zip, move/copy the 4 files in the BepInEx_x64_5.4.19.0 folder into this file location. Do not place the BepInEx_x64_5.4.19.0 folder in there.
   C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\worldbox
   
   (if you have a file called run_bepinex.sh you download the Unix version of BepInEx. Delete the BepInEx files and reinstall with the x64 version for windows)
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
5. Run WorldBox as an administrator by right clicking the worldbox.exe and click "run as administrator", and wait until the game is fully loaded.
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
6. Look in your BepInEx folder, and there should now be 6 files in it instead of just the core folder. One of them will be a folder called "plugins" which should have appeared.
   This is where you will put your BepInEx mods, which will be a .dll file.
   
   
7. Extract/unzip the zips of the mods you have chosen, and inside them should be a .dll file. You place the .dll files and the .dll files only into the plugins folder I mentioned before
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
8. Launch the game, and your mods should automatically be loaded.
   If not, reread the guide more carefully, look at the attached images and click to enlargen them, and if you still need help, ask in the official discord's help channel.
   
   
9. When it's time to update your BepInEx, just install it normally and when it asks you to replace the files click Replace All.
   When it's time to update your individual mods like SimpleGUI, delete the old one and put in the new one.

Nowadays, all you have to do is download NML from the steam workshop and then every other mod you download from there should work.
