Description

Nucleus is a map based on the "Ring Space" from the show "The Expanse".
In its recreation in Nebulous, you fight your enemy around the Nucleus, and try to capture the Railguns around the station. It is not a 1-to-1 recreation of it, as our current design is better for the gameplay and visuals in Nebulous.

Station: Located on Team B's side of the Nucleus.
Amount of Cover: High
Size: Medium (20km)

Additional Details
The Intended mode for this map is "Control". Station Capture and Annihilation are both supported, but will bring a worse experience than Control. Control on this map spawns 6 Control points, all embedded in to the Nucleus on all six sides. The maps play area is only a few kilometer bigger than the Nucleus itself. This means that you have to tightly move around the asteroid while defending all points of interests.

Known Issues
-On 5v5 the map can become very laggy. If you want better performance, use fleets with less individual ships and less missile spam heavy fleets.

Ive seen enough people bring railgunning/missile fleets and do pretty decently. You do need to move a lot more though and wont be able to just keep spamming on targets from the same position. I did decide to make it like this, since otherwise railgunners would have been far to strong on the map. I think the tipp to not getting owned by Beam destroyers is just not to fly as close to the Nucleus as they do, there is stlll 5km of space between the Nucleus and the edge of the map, which can provide a lot of distance even while you have beam destroyers in visual range.

This map looks amazing but it plays absolutely awful. the withdraw zone is just slightly larger than the big disco ball meaning the second you see the enemy they're in your face. Any strategy other than beam will do very poorly.

Update 1.2: AI Patch
-The AI should be fixed now. Thanks to WaterIsPoison for the help!

Update 1.1: Railgun Patch!
-Adds Railguns to the location of each Control Point.
-The Railguns will occasionaly fire and illuminate the space.
-The Railguns are entirely visual and wont damage your ships.

Just want to mention that it is making me glad that people all over the place seem to be enjoying the map! Over the Discord, Reddit and in-game I've gotten lots of positive feedback! I occasionally host the map in the game or join matches with it, i am enjoying it myself quite a bit.
