Never built/cancelled designs - WW2 era

Description
When the German Kriegsmarine entered WW2, its destroyers were armed with either low-angle 12.7cm guns or the 15cm as found of the Narvik class. As the threat of air attacks had been grossly underestimated prior to the War, neither of these guns were designed with the ability to fire at aerial target, leaving the Kriegsmarine's entire destroyer fleet without any heavy anti-air capabilities. This shortcoming soon became apparent as losses from air attacks grew during the Norway campaign. To remedy this, the Kriegsmarine proposed an improved variant of the existing Type 1936B destroyer in early 1941, replacing the 1936B’s five low-angle 12.7cm guns with six guns of the same size, but now mounted in dual-purpose twin turrets. These turrets combined with radar fire control would’ve given the 1936Cs vastly superior anti-aircraft firepower than the older destroyers. Other than the changes to the main armaments, the 1936cs used the same hulls as the older 1936B and C types, with near-identical size and displacement. The ships were intended to reuse 70,000 shp high pressure powerplants originally designed for the Spahkreuzers.

A class of five ships were planned with the first two ships, Z46 and Z47, laid down in October 1941. However, resources shortages and constant disruptions by Allied bombing raids meant that none of these ships were completed.
