All races will start with their most recent edition. Most races will start with 8th edition, but some races do not have 8th edition rules, so these races will start with their most recent edition:

• Bretonnia -6th Edition
  
• Skaven -7th Edition
  
• Beastmen -7th Edition
  
• All other core races -8th Edition

Why the separation?
"8th Edition is clearly CA's focus and they stated that many times in the past and it's what all the games are based on. so that is the reason why 8th Edition is being seperated from the other."

Every unit that isn't from 8th Edition will have unit tags:

(FW) = The unit is from Forge World. (Tamurkhan The Throne of Chaos, Monstrous Arcanum, Storm of Magic.)
(WD) = The unit is from White Dwarf.
(OE) = The unit is from Old Editions. (4th - 7th)
(CJ) = The unit is from The Citadel Journals.
(TC) = The unit is from the Town Cryer magazines for Mordheim.
(SP) = The unit is from other Supplements, Battle Scrolls and other Expansions like Storm of Chaos, Warhammer Chronicles etc....

The wizard blesses weapons to ooze with the choicest of Nurgle's foul contagions.

Lore of Nurgle: Plague Wind (Vortex)
The wizard summons forth a swirling maelstrom of maggots, bile and blight-ridden fluids to eat away at his enemy's skin, flesh and soul.

Lore of Shadows: Steed of Shadows (Augment)
The air becomes dark and there is a sudden sound of monstrous hoofbeats. A coal-black or sometimes invisible, insubstantial drake materialises to carry a hero away on wings of night.

Lore of Slaanesh: Cacophonic Choir (Hex)
The wizard screams an ear-piercing chorus that tortures the souls and shatters the sanity of those who would stand in its path.

Lore of Tzeentch: Bolt of Change (Magic Missile)
The Sorcerer hurls a single devastating bolt of energy that blasts through the ranks of the enemy, wracking their bodies with sickening and uncontrollable mutations.

Lore of the Vampires: Hellish Vigour (Augment)
The Necromancer infuses a number of Undead, allowing them to move swiftly, empowered by raw malevolence. In addition, they wield their weapons with greater proficiency.

Forgotten Races is a standalone section we made together with Pootis Bird and without him wouldn't have been possible.

This section of the guide is about races from the lore that never got much attention and are mostly forgotten today and we will most likely never see any of these factions or units in the game. However, with the inclusion of Cathay, nothing is off the table, which means we could potentially see one or more of these races implemented, either as units for existing races or as their own race.

Marsh Magic
In The Dying of the Light adventure for WFRP, the Fimir have some spells that are unique to them. It's main purpose would be to debuff the enemy, hiding/improving your own units, as well as summoning Lesser Daemons. In the new Winds of Magic supplement for WFRP, we got a new Fimir character as well as new spells in the form of the "Marsh Magic" that she uses.

Should't the Chariot of Slaanesh and Tzeentch be removed? Since they are already ingame under their modern names (Seeker chariot and Burning Chariot respectively).

The other two should maybe also be updated to use their modern names (the Plague Chariot of Nurgle and the Blood Chariot of Khorne).

@No Name both of those are represented, but not as units. Brotherhood of the Bear is a minor faction in the Realms of Chaos campaign, and the Hawks of Miska are a spell in the Lore of Tempest.
