Your path-to-game is obviously the place on your drive where the game is installed. If that's not clear enough than point which part of this instructions you have trouble with, maybe someone be able to explain more.

I downgrade and took the dll from the PCGamingWiki.com after the small section about downgrade. It's an error, the game crash when you start multiplayer.
Downgrade from PCGamingWiki.com is fine, but take the dll from the OP's guide.
Maybe the new dll works and we don't have to downgrade anymore, i won't test it tho.
thanks
@patch Have you tried disconnecting your PC from the internet before launching DOOM?
After fiddling around and doing research i was able to make it work on Linux as well:
Solution:
1) You have to set this in the Launch Options to make Wine/Proton pick up the dinput8.dll
WINEDLLOVERRIDES=dinput8=n,b %command%
2) After starting Doom i was able change this variable in the ingame console
