The Hard Way Achievement
This Achievement was removed due to it being bugged and wasn't popping up when people beat the game on Hardcore. I have the achievement details near the end of the guide for historical reasons.
Apartment/Atlas
If you wish to play on Hardcore there is an achievement at the end of the game for this. (You must play from the start of a new game with hardcore turned on and play the whole thing with hardcore on.)
When you start a new game is the first achievement.
So you will start in Nora's apartment and first go to the trash bin next to her desk and pick up the hiveball out of the trash bin.
Then before heading out go to Nora's bedroom where there is the 1st note (Note: A Brilliant Machine 1/3)
Then head out of Nora's apartment and go to Atlas Programm where on the front desk is the 2nd note. (Note: A Brilliant Machine 2/3)
Now head to the elevator and go up then head to Walter's Office where the 3rd note is and the key card. (Note: Consequences)
Now run to the door with the key card and unlock the door with it. Then your first door on the right go in there for the 4th note. (Note:Code List - November )
After that on the last door on the left is a computer room with 5th note and the pc you need to interact with for the achievement "Unforseen Consequences" it should say "Venting Prevents Explosion". (Note:ATLAS by Walter Rebel)
Now go to the keypad and enter the code 2309 to up the door. Wait a sec and then or 6th note is right in front of you. (Note: A Brilliant Machine 3/3)
Library I / Institute
When you enter Library I you will get the "The Library" Achievement.
After waking up you should get the achievement "Where Am I?"
Then run right of you to some table where the 7th note is. (Note: Operational Test #32)
After picking that up run over and open the gate and run to the right where there is a wheel you need to pick up for the next door and the 8th note on the box close to it. (Note: A Telegraph 1/2)
Now when you open the next gate go get the Pickaxe.
Then turn right there is the 9th note. (Note: A Telegraph 2/2)
Now use the Pickaxe to break the 2x4's and there should be a elevator and across from it should be a church pew with the 10th note on it. (Note: Arrival of Rosendal)
After getting the last note there should be a doorway with 3 2x4's break them down and go around the chalkboard there should be the 11th note on the table. (Note: Forward Planning...)
Now complete the puzzle and turn on the steam machine and go up the elevator. After that you should break the 2x4's on the next door and go through until you find a robot at the end of the hall way. Next to the robot is a pistol. Pick it up for the achievement "Moving Led"
After that turn right and use a box to jump up to the radio and pick it up for the achievement "A Human Voice"
The 12th Note right next to it. (Note:Journal of Joseph Oswald 1/5)
Now make your way to the cafe where the 13th note is behind a record player. (Note: ATLAS by Vevelstad)
Now exit the Institute to get the achievement "Welcome to Hakavik"
Library II
Now in Library II you need to pick up the key for later. After the animation of Nora putting up a book is done run under the stair where the key is. Pick it up and you should get the achievement "Forward Planning".
Now just exit the level.
Old Streets
After you enter Hakavik run to the first core pod. Pull the core out and run up the ramp that is coming down. There will be enemies so take them out or run past them but pick up the SMG for the achievement "Spring-Powered"
Then make your way to the abandoned apartments. On the 1st level there will be a robot and next to it will be a door way. In that room is 14th note next to a SMG (if you missed the last SMG)
(Note: Fisherman's Diary 1/2)
Now make your way to the 3rd floor. The Last door on the right before the front desk area and shotgun is the 15th note. (Note Fisherman's Diary 2/2)
Now to the shotgun and pick it up right before the front desk area to get the achievement "Twelve AM"
Now when you exit the apartments there will be an animation skip if you want to but after it plays you will be right next to Walter's statue. From there go left to a dinner looking area. There will be enemies it there so take them out or or not. The 16th note is on the bar counter. (Note: A New King)
Now from here you can either take out both cores on each side of this area or you can just prop hop (AKA Couch Skip) over the bridge thing. Thank you to Fox for finding the skip and having video of it.
After you do either one of those options go up the stairs and pick up the 17th note. should be on a table. (Note: New Technology)
After That go get the wheel and open the gate to find a sniper rifle. Pick it up for the achievement
"A Little Bit Closer"
Now start running down this street there will be enemies so take them out or don't. While going down the street there will be a door on the right side with two SMG robots take them out and go that door and use the key for Library II and press E on the Radio for the achievement "Reviving The GDR"
Now make your way up the stair towards Town Hall and enter Walter's Office. After that run down the stairs to a little room with a table, health vial, and the 18 note. (Note: Journal of Joseph Oswald 2/5)
Now the last note is right before the train so you can go down normally or you can prop fly over there but for the note you need to land at the station and not go to the level transition point. Thanks to fox for find this skip and having video of it. (Note: Journal of Joseph Oswald 3/5)
Hop on the train and ride it to the next library and then the Canal for an achievement called "The Crossing"
Canal
After riding the train to a stop make your way down to the beach and the up the ramp. Get on the elevator and go through the half open gate and make your way to where you can see some robot dogs come out of a door. Deal with them and then go through that door but go straight and then turn left to see a table with a health vial and the 20th note (Note: Hostile Sightings)
After that just make your way through until you get to a bridge that breaks. After waking from the fall make your way to the room over looking the elevator "puzzle" there will be a table with the 21th note on it next to a save typewritier. (Note: Building The Wall)
After that if you want some extra supply there is a key tight next to the door way pick it up and use it on the door just down the hall from you. There is two robots in that room and some supplies.
After that press e on the lever in that room to open the gates. Leave the room from where you entered and turn right and go under the opening gates. Now you need to pull the lever in the middle first then pull each lever on each side of the room and then pull the lever on the elevator to go up. After that been on the left side of the elevator. When you get off go straight until you see a 2x4 used as a bridge to a door. Go through that door but then go to the door on the right where the 22nd note is. (Note:Journal of Joseph Oswald 4/5)
So There is a new note added during the 1.2 update. After getting Joseph Oswald 4/5 make your way up to the top where Brent house is. Go through the greenhouse and there will be a green couch with a file cabinet no drawers. The new 23th note is on the top drawer slot. (Note: Industria Festivities 1991)
After that just go up the stairs to the ladder that leads to the roof where Brent's house is. There will be greenhouses up there. You can run through them and climb the ladder pull the lever 3x and then it opens Brent's door and you can go through that OR you can just do Brent Skip.
After that go under that metal piece in the wall and go down the stairs. At the bottom will be the 24th note. (Note: Journal of Joseph Oswald 5/5)
Now turn left and go down and then run to the stacked boxes and hop up them go up the stairs and turn right and go straight then turn left to go up the next set of stairs open the door run through and pull the lever to open the train gate. Now behind you should be a table with the last note. The 25th Note. (Note: Gate Field Report).
After getting that note you should get the Bookworm achievement.
Now make your way to the train and have a nice 2 and a half min ride to the last library.
Library IV, Forest, and Chapel.
Now you should get an achievement for entering the last library called "Falling In Eternity"
After That you should get an achievement called "Close To The Sun' for entering the forest.
Now when the train stops run all the way to the house on the hill. Next to the house should be some tombstones. The Second one is Brent's Wife. Place Brent's Photo on the grave for the achievement called "
After than enter the building for the achievement called "Hanging Boats"
Now when inside run the Walter's body and press E on him (That is where speedrunner end their run). There will be a cut scene after. Then when you can walk go straight until you start falling and the game ends when the curtains close and the screen goes black. You should get an achievement called "The end is the end is the end is the end is the end"

If you played on Hardcore you would also get the achievement "The Hard Way" (This Achievement maybe bugged and if you run through the game on hardcore you may not get the achievement)
This seems to be removed from the achievement list. I am keeping it here for the fact it was once an achievement. It is no longer achievable

You may be able to get the achievement by doing this method that was posted by NOrO (Comment #90) on this post:
https://steamcommunity.com/app/1172650/discussions/0/3196992424218190586/?ctp=6

This method will require you to use Steam console. To open steam console in windows go to this post about it -
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=873543244

In Linux:
(if using a steam deck you need to be in desktop mode)
Open your terminal and simply just type steam -console
Then press enter
When steam is up there should be a console tab next to you steam name.
Then just follow the steps for downloading an old version of Industria

  • 1 download_depot 1172650 1172651 7001718264895465924
  • 2 play on hardcore in the latest version 1.3.0 until the end and save in the forest before the end.
  • 3 exit, replace everything with the version downloaded in step 1
  • 4. load the game where I save and that's it.
  • 5 the point 4 I did it 2 times because the first time I entered with direct x11 and it didn't work. then I entered with diectx 12 and it worked.
  • vital information a friend of mine did it first and it worked.

Also a special thanks to Captain Arctica for letting me know how they got the achievement (In the comments) and where they found the solution that worked for them.

You could also use the Steam Achievement Manager to unlock the achievement manually.
https://github.com/gibbed/SteamAchievementManager

(I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING THIS PROGRAM TO CHEAT YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS! IT IS A TOOL TO UNLOCK ACHIEVEMENTS THAT ARE BUGGED OR RESET YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS!)

If you play and beat the game with only using the pickaxe (You can pick up guns just can't shoot them.) You should get this achievement. Playing on normal is the best way to do this.

If you play the whole game without taking any damage at all you will get this achievement. There is a section where you fall with a bridge that break when you go across it. You will take damage but that doesn't count towards the achievement. (Well at least when I got the achievement it didn't. That was back before the 1.2 update.)
Current Glitches and Bugs that are bad...
  • Reloading a save may cause your pickaxe to disappear from your inventory.
  • Also with number one if you scroll down with the mouse wheel you will only get the smg but if you scroll up you would get the other weapons
  • During the elevator "puzzle" i fazed through the floor of the elevator. Making it to where i had to reload the last save i had...
  • In the journal, notes can be glitched where you can't see the name of some notes but you can scroll through them...
  • Tabbing out of game may cause stuttered frames. Down to 5 fps...
  • Loading a save may cause you needing to be healed to be able to interact with object, doors, or ladders. If you have a full health bar just get hit and then heal and that should fix it. If you can't heal and can't progress.... you have to restart the whole game over or the last save you had for that run.
  • If you reload holding a item you can't interact with objects, doors, or ladders unless you heal. If you can't heal and can't progress.... you have to restart the game by quitting to steam and relaunching the game.
  • Having a bugged pickaxe in inventory causes you to not be able to inspect items.
  • Achievement tracking for all notes maybe bugged. Randomly will stop saying you are good with the achievement and basically says you missed one even if you didn't.
  • Had a bug where when restoring default controls made it where my mouse couldn't look around at all. Restoring default controls again fixed it but just be careful.
  • If you change any keybinding to the mouse. You can't look around unless you do that same keybind again.
  • If you load a save or autosave after using the elevator in the beginning of canal it will not let you ride up or down. it is glitched in place
  • The Achievement "The Hard Way" maybe bugged. You can run through game on hardcore and still not have the achievement pop. (Note: The Achievement was bugged. So bugged they removed it. I kept the info about the achievement for historically reference.)
  • If you load a autosave or a hard save and you can't use anything at all (no weapons or picking up items) and you quit the game and go back in. Then load a save or chapter you may have the pickaxe under you like it is T posing. You can't use anything or interact with anything. You have to restart the whole game again.

No, it was the only one left. Achievement still popped, so I am happy regardless.

Did you only have two achievements left? The pause menu will only show two to three achievement that are close to being completed. Even if you have more than two or three to do.

I just did all achievements with "Shipshape and Shiny" being the last. Somewhere after the greenhouse section the achievement indicator in menu decided to SWAP the "Blocked" text over the two achievements but still I was able to earn the 0 hit achievement. No clue what could've caused it.

Thanks for the guide!

Good point!

Just one idea of improvement I want to share: You might want to point out that they removed the Hardcore Achievement ("The Hard Way") in the beginning of the guide. I played the game for the first time on hardcore mode because I was under the impression that it'll grant me an Achievement. Then again, I wouldn't wanna miss the challenge.

You are welcome! Yeah I am kinda old school about walkthroughs.

Thanks for actually making a detailled walkthrough with screenshots and all. That's kinda rare nowadays, all you ever get is YT videos. Cheers!
