CSL Music Mod Station Editor

Description
NEW! Made a step-by-step video tutorial on how to create your custom radio station:

https://youtu.be/7y3NsYLUQOA
This tool is an app independent from the game! You don't need the game running to use the app, but you do need to have the game installed. The app was not developed by me, I'm just uploading it here! All credits go to the app's original creator.

This tool allows easier creation & modification of CSL Music Mod radio station files.

Conflict for user created radio stations: Loading Order Mod - Check this topic for a fix.

Requirements:

- Java Runtime 8 or higher[www.java.com]
- audio converter for .ogg files

How to use the app:

After you subscribe to this mod, you must locate the app at one of the following locations*:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\255710\2731443757\CSLMusicModStationEditor.exe

{your drive}:\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\255710\2731443757\CSLMusicModStationEditor.exe

{your drive}:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\workshop\content\255710\2731443757\CSLMusicModStationEditor.exe

*depending on where you installed Cities Skylines

Start the app

Either start the CSLMusicModStationEditor.exe (on Windows) or the CSLMusicModStationEditor.sh file (Mac, Linux)

Creating a custom radio station

Insert the name of your station, give it a description and a thumbnail. The description will be seen in the content manager when you publish your station to the Steam Workshop. The name & thumbnail are of course used within the selection of available radio station during the game.

Create collections for your radio station (2nd tab)

Collections are a great way to organize your songs and are later the best way to play songs only at certain situations. So plan ahead and create the collections you will later need. Please don't forget that the collections are global. Name them so they clearly belong to your station. You can also add collections from other radio stations & vanilla collections that are accessible within the arrow menu next to Add.

Example: You can make a collection for night, one for day, one for when it rains or you can have just one collection.

Add music/content to your collection(s)

The next step will be to add the songs by editing the collection(s). But first you have to save the station. Pick some empty folder and save the station into it. You can add *.ogg songs by using the Add button or by dragging the files into the list. The editor will then copy the songs into the correct folder. You can also set the content type (music, talk, commercial, ...) within the editor that will rename the song file accordingly.

If you are using collections from other stations, you of course don't need to add songs. But if you do, they will be added to the list of existing songs - using this way you can extend other radio stations.

ONLY .OGG FILES WORK! MP3 FILES WILL NOT WORK! IF YOU HAVE MP3 FILES YOU WILL NEED TO CONVERT THEM FIRST

*There are many tools for converting the audio files but I personally recommend winLAME (you can get it here[winlame.sourceforge.io]). Its easy to use, lighweight and FREE.

Testing and publishing your radio station

To test the station or just have it for personal use, choose Tools > Export to local mod folder. This will create a music pack mod ready to use & publish within Cities: Skylines. Your Radio Station will appear as a mod in the Content Manager and from there you can also share it to the Steam Workshop.

Having some problems getting the day/night system to work. I have it set up to pull music from different collections at day and night (no schedule), but when I run Cities, the radio doesn't play music at all.

I can also upload the .json file. I'm guessing there's an error somewhere in the setup, but I'm not sure what, I've checked and double checked the .json file

After you make a radio, it will not show in the content manager if you use Skyve v3.3.0 [Beta]
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2953447919 .

You have to unsub the Third-party mod manager in order for the custom radio to load.

This is just a note for those who use Skyve

Hello ! I followed all the radio creation steps but the radios no longer show up in the mod manager. They also don't appear when you download them from the workshop.

@ExoFury So I re-uploaded the Final Fantasy VII pack that disappeared a while ago to get a working copy of it. It played perfectly. & then I found all the music files in their full lengths, so I updated my mod & it still worked perfectly. here is my upload.

But weirdly before the new DLC, I noticed the FFVII pack was no longer showing in my music mod. It literally just stopped showing up. I changed nothing after the update, & again the update was perfect. I'm using Load Order Tool & my local copy is enabled.

Do you have any idea why it might not be showing up for me & how I could fix it?? All local files are still in tact, they have not changed for months, & people are still subscribing to the FFVII mod (249 now) & are not complaining it's not working, so it must still be functioning for them...

@ExoFury well, it already was not working and seemed to have been dead for a few years, and when I reached out to the owner the next day it was gone. But I had a local backup saved and was able to get it working through your mod.

I'm considering uploading it, but copyright stuff makes me nervous.

Thank you for this! I was able to create a Final Fantasy VII playlist that was deleted from the workshop. Fantastic mod!!
