Castlevania Music Replacement Mod (Updated for v1.0 release)

This is a mod that replaces the in game OST with music from the Castlevania series. With a total of 54 tracks used, they have been curated and edited to fit both the theme of the levels and to seamlessly loop until your run ends.

Finally updated for version 1.0 of the game :)

Extract contents of the .zip file below to your game directory and overwrite the 14 files when prompted.

The following only applies if you have a certain mode unlocked:
If you're planning to play the stages on hyper mode, make sure you pick the normal version of the song as long as you have the music relic unlocked!

Overview

The modded files I've shared here aim to provide a more castlevania-esque experience to the player with about 200 minutes of remixes from the franchise, notably Vampire Killer and Bloody Tears. There are, of course a LOT more tracks added to the game since the last update that I've credited below, however you might want to avoid looking through that to not spoil the surprise :)

I want to point out that I did NOT make any of the remixes, I've just chosen and edited them in Audacity so that it loops well in the game.

Each person's music taste is subjective, and I've tried to get remixes that sound as close to the original techno vibe the game has, and I think it turned out pretty decent. Hope you like it as much as I did!

I will say this again after the v1.0 update: The music is already very good for a game like this, especially since there are at least triple the amount of songs for all the new content.

First off, let me say that the default music is fantastic for a grindy game like this. I was extremely surprised when looking through the music files to find that the tracks are only about 60 seconds long! However, after listening to the same 60 seconds on loop for 4+ hours, I've decided to just grab a castlevania playlist instead to better immerse myself. This worked for a while until I find myself distracted by not only the different songs on the list but also the subtle things like the music not stopping and resuming when opening a chest.

So, I've decided that I want to create a loop of a song that not only goes well with the game, but also the style and feel of the original songs used which are techno-y with an upbeat mood. After searching for a while I've finally decided on remixes of two of the series' most popular tracks: Vampire Killer and Bloody Tears. I would like to once again point out I do not make any of the remixes used, I've credited them below accordingly - they are all fantastic artists. The point of this rather long loop is to capture the feel of the original grinding music, so I've avoided using any of the metal, orchestral/epic, vocal covers despite how good they are as much as possible.

I then popped the finalized tracks in Audacity and cut out parts of the songs that don't fit, like long intros etc, and loop them as nicely as possible. I'm no musician so it's not perfect, but hey, it sounds decent enough to me! The end result is about 200+ minutes of grinding music which I hope you enjoy as much as I did!

For those that have unlocked a certain mode in the game, you might've noticed that the hyper mode version of the maps contain a sped up version of the original songs. Thankfully the creator included an option to switch between the different versions of a song after you've unlocked the music relic, so I don't have to make two different versions again like before.

How to install

1. Right click the game in your steam library and click "Browse local files"
   
   
2. An explorer window should pop up. Open the .zip file you've downloaded and drag and drop/extract the folder there. Windows will ask you if you want to overwrite the 3 files. Say yes to all.
   
   
3. Pick Alucard Arca when you play for maximum immersion.

@majinyasu Thanks! I will be updating/releasing this modpack when the game is near completion - I need to know how many levels there are in total so I can space out the tracks accordingly. Please sit tight and check this mod out again then if you're still interested!
