Helpful Wish I Knew: Useful Guide and Tips

Watch the video at the time stamps provided to see visuals for the guide below:

Slide Jump (0:12 - Time Stamp)
When you’re not going uphill, you can slide while running and if you jump from that sliding position you can get some serious air and speed. And use conveyor belts if you want to be launched at even faster speeds!

First Time Mining (0:21 - Time Stamp)
When you first start using the portable miners on a deposit, you can actually place more than one. Also, deposits are infinite but produce resources at different rates based on their purity.

Exploring (0:32 - Time Stamp)
All four starter locations are part of the same map; only some regions are more difficult based on terrain, resource availability, and hazards. While exploring, you can use the Object Finder to locate some important items. Remember to always carry some cement so that you can easily build bridges or ramps if you need it. If you find cracked rocks, they can be destroyed with the Nobelisk Bomb and Detonator you unlock later on.

Wreckage (0:56 - Time Stamp)
You might come across wreckages which give you a hard drive you can bring back to your MAM research station to unlock alternative item blueprints. Sometimes the wreckage needs specific materials but you may also need to provide it power. To do this, just drop some biomass generators on the spot, hook them up, and fill them with leaves or dead animal carcasses to power up the wreckage!
After you extract the hard drive, your Object Scanner will STILL beep and notify you of it when close. This can be really annoying so I got into the habit of building some easily visible structures out of foundations or watch towers to help me remember which I’ve already discovered. You might also use beacons with custom notes if you have these on hand.

Death (0:32 - Time Stamp)
If you die you drop everything you were carrying and will need to return to the dropped loot by following the chest icon in your HUD display. Or you can just load your last save point if you want to cheat.

Powerslugs (1:44 - Time Stamp)
After you've researched how to overcharge your buildings with powerslugs, you can create cells which you can feed into most production buildings. You have to use the slider in the building to the desired overcharge state. Although you can increase production by 250% this will also increase energy costs by 5 times so only do this if you can manage the extra power consumption.

Building Tips (2:08 - Time Stamp)
Recycling objects recovers all the materials used to make it. If you’re full of items, the extra materials will be neatly placed in a chest for later retrieval and building storage units is pretty cheap as well!
When building, some structures can clip through others but in very specific ways like railings, pipes, and power poles can clip through conveyors and splitters only if they’re placed FIRST, but not everyone cares about all these tiny details so I just want to focus on some general tricks that can be really helpful in a lot of situations:
Conveyors can easily clip through other conveyors without any problems and a conveyor or pipe can clip through the building it originated from. Currently you can also clip conveyors through floor pieces which have the little angles on them if you want to seal up some of your floor.
Vertical conveyors can transfer materials at the same speed as horizontal ones and this makes it super easy to create a base up in the sky which saves space and avoids the problem of uneven terrain, rocks, and streams!
I also got into the habit of using flooring when building all my bases since it made things MUCH easier to line up.

Hotbars (3:07 - Time Stamp)
You actually have 10 hotbars available while building and they can be swapped by holding the ALT key and scrolling up or down. You can assign buildings to the hotbar by hovering over the one you want and pressing a number key.

How to Befriend a Lizard Doggo (3:19 - Time Stamp)
First, you can’t have the Blade Runners equipped when you're taming a Doggo.
Collect some Paleberries (you won’t need many so split the stack by right clicking and make piles of 1). Then find a Lizard Doggo in the wild. Be careful not to run near the lizard, approach slowly and watch it run away, eventually it will stop and stare back at you. Go into your inventory and drop a paleberry on the ground (click and drag out of inventory).
Move away and wait for it to come and eat. Right after it takes the bait, run up and press E on it. If you're on time you might tame it and have a loyal companion. It took me one try but there is a chance you will need to feed it more berries or you might be too late petting it and have to try again by moving away and starting over.
The Doggo has one inventory slot and will try its best to follow you but can be killed by other monsters or falling off cliffs. It’s best to build a small pen for it out of foundations to keep it safe. Be sure to visit your Doggo farm every once in a while as they generate items at random times. Some of these items are great but you have a chance of also finding URANIUM WASTE which emits radiation damage and can’t be trashed or destroyed. To solve this, build a storage near the farm and connect it (with conveyors) to a storage far away.

Awesome Sink (4:20 - Time Stamp)
Awesome Sinks are buildings which can burn excess resources in return for tickets. You get more points based on the complexity of the item burned. You can then use these tickets at the Awesome shop where you can buy new foundations, lights, a crazy speedy cart, trophy statues, and even some resources you may need. Consider having remote resources deposits simply feeding a sink if you want to constantly collect tickets since all sinks are connected and you can collect all your earned tickets from whichever sink you interact with.

Jetpack and Hoverpack (4:45 - Time Stamp)
When you get a chance to unlock Jet and Hover pack DO IT! The Jetpack uses fuel so you will need to get a reliable source before you can really take advantage of this tool. Take a few stacks of fuel with you and use the Jetpack when exploring. The Hoverpack gets power when you are close to a building, outlet, or power pole connected to your power grid (don’t forget that rails for trains are powered and will charge your Hover pack as well). When you get out of the range of your power grid, the Hover pack will stop working but luckily if you lose power while hovering, you can still hold the jump or flight button to gently hover to the ground instead of plummeting to your death!

Space Elevator (5:26 - Time Stamp)
The Space Elevator is a massive building which requests large amounts of products that get sent up to Ficsit in the sky. The first three deliveries unlock two higher tiers of Milestones and the fourth unlocks this Gold cup in the Awesome Shop. Don’t focus on this building too much if you still need to work on other upgrades and unlocks.

Storage Tip (5:46 - Time Stamp)
If you want to have storage containers lining your main hub so you can stock up like Neo in the Matrix, add a tiny amount of conveyor to the end of the container so you now can see the contents.

Great guide man! Personally I think its better to experience everything on your own, it feels a lot more rewarding, but nonetheless these are some great tips

You can sub to my channel (follow links from video). I can't really monitor Steam chat too much.

You are doing a lot of research right now. Have you considered making a guide? It's easy on Steam. You need only own the game.

it works when it uses an odd number of iron plates but it is the most consistent when it uses 3 iron plates.

also the trick to turn a iron plate into a reinforced iron plate works better when the conveyor uses 3 iron plates not 5 iron plates.

also I think that trick to turn a iron plate into a reinforced iron plate would work for all lvl's of conveyors
