Do you miss an old mod but hate that it looks crappy now? If so then this is the guide for you.

1. select the car you want PBR to be added to
2. press f11
Once you press f11 you should see a big menu pop up as shown here. It will look confusing but you will only need to use one part of it.
3. click "windows" at the top left part of the screen and select materials editor
When selecting these you should see a popup window open with a block with textures on it as shown.
4. select the texture you want to change
This is where it gets a little tricky but I will try to make it as simple as possible. Basically you are looking for a texture with paint, primary, or main in its name. If it's hard for you to find you can select different textures until you get one that shows a shiny white block with no pictures on it like the one shown here.
5. Add PBR paint
After you have selected the correct texture, you will want to press the green button below that says " Switch to V1.5 (PBR)". Next, you will see a plus and minus appear after you press the green button. Press the plus button once and the minus button once and the car should turn white. You show see active layers 1 of 4. Next go down until you see a check box that says "instance Basecolor" click it. Next, you need to scroll down until you see "metallic map" put the "factor" slider all the way to the right until it says 1.000. After that you need to scroll some more until you see "roughness map". Do the same as you did for "metallic map" by putting the "factor" slider to 1.000. Next, scroll down to the bottom and select the advanced properties drop down menu, then scroll to the bottom again until you see "clear coat map". As the name suggests, this will tune the clear coat for you. Put your "factor" slider to 1.000 like before, but this time there is a second slider named "factor roughness", this tunes the roughness of the clear coat to make matte and satin paint but I don't currently know how to get it to work so just set it to 0.000 for now. Lastly, scroll to the top of the "materials editor" page and click the save button as shown highlighted in red.
Enjoy
Thank you for checking this out. I hope you have lots of fun with this and become better at it than me. Remember that you can use this to spice up any texture not just paint, you can even change the interior color of a car and fix missing textures with it. Just explore it and see what you can find. Here is the before and after.

I've tried painting a CRD chassis Spectra Chrome. At least I figured the process out; but when I go to save the edited materials, the program crashes. Why?

Fantastic!!! Thanks so much for your great guide, was very easy! Factor roughness seems to be adjusting the "brightness" or intensity of the reflections? Its still reflecting at 1.00, but the white balance seems way lower.
