This is it!
And then made it so you could only have about 1 gigabyte worth of detail on the screen at any one time... Which is honestly pretty far from what you need on high-quality, leading to blurred texts and a general low quality in all the environmental detail at any given moment. Using the file from https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/2035-control-blurry-textures-fix/ you can bumb this up to, well, as much as you want really. I found 4 GB is about as much as you'll ever really need if ya want to be safe.

So as it says on the page once the files are placed in the same location that the main Control.exe file is in there will be two tweakables files. Specifically you'll find these down in "data" then "globaldb". These should be above the executables as long as your using the regular old Windows File Explorer. You'll also want the one with the increased texture streaming size so be sure to rename "tweakables_high_quality" to just "tweakables" They actually already brought the size up to 2 GB in the high quality file already which is again still not quite enough but much better than the original too. So anyway you go through, overwriting the original since you don't need that lesser original tweakables file anymore and so the game can actually use the new file. Then using whatever xml editor you want, notepad is perfectly good to edit it with, open it and you'll see a line like this right about in the middle
<tweakable type="int" name="Texture Streaming:Min Pool Size MB" value="500"/>
<tweakable type="int" name="Texture Streaming:Target texture pool size MB" value="2048"/>

Turn that bad boy as high as ya think your computer can take, again I personally recommend a size of at least 4 GB so I doubled the amount they had and brought it up to
<tweakable type="int" name="Texture Streaming:Min Pool Size MB" value="1000"/>
<tweakable type="int" name="Texture Streaming:Target texture pool size MB" value="4096"/>
And bam just like that everything now looks purty as pie. Also I'm gonna be honest I'm pretty sure the "min pool size MB" doesn't actually need to be made any higher but since I was doubling the texture streaming it just felt right to double that one up too. Someone smarter at coding than me can tell me how wrong that is

Credit to Aemony and the others they credited on PCGamingWiki for making this possible!

I don't see why it wouldn't work though i have no idea how you modify files on the deck so

Did anyone try this fix on the Steam Deck? Would it work? Any idea of how it'd impact its performance?

Its a pleasure!

I've played it since the update, and it didn't break anything, at least. I haven't dug into ini files or anything to see if they changed stuff in the update, tho, and I'm not sure if I could tell if they did! Worry not, it still runs fine with your tweaks, just curious if it's still necessary. Thanks for letting me read "Shelter" on the shelter doors all these years!

Oh i had no idea they updated it, play it and find out and if its still hecked then this method should still work i doubt they changed the internal code that much

Does this still work/Is it still necessary after the March 2025 update?

Oh lol no this is for the ultimate edition i'm not really sure why it wouldn't be working, gamyr was just having some difficulty with it too. Could try mabye deleting the original file before placing the new one in there just make sure its correctly named and such

Should this work for the Ultimate Edition?
I am experiencing blurry textures with this version but the updated files did nothing.

When I copied the files over it didn't replace anything so I am guessing this version just has a different file structure for these settings.

Any help?

Tried a setting, will change it back. I think the loading times are fine. Yes, to your question @Jadex, I did name it the same.

Awesome! And yeah no totally mess around with it get it how you like it, in my experince once you put it at like that 4gb settings it was smooth sailing, like i think when you first open it it might take a second to initialize but then it shouldn't be noticeable after that
