A new storytelling role-playing game by the artist collective Solarpunk Surf Club where players imagine the pathways to a desirable world from the perspective of a utopian future. Through ‘backcasting’ and collaborative worldbuilding, visionary narratives emerge of a new society, along with plausible scenarios for how to get there.

The game revolves around collaborative storytelling mechanics facilitated by simple rules and guiding questions. Players start by collectively describing aspects of a real-world challenge, such as “Medical Debt” or “Mass Surveillance”. Players then draw cards that summon unique “Ancestors”, whose actions are guided by a “Value” and multiple “Tools”. Each player narrates their Ancestor’s attempts to solve the challenge, first individually, and then as a group working together.
