Additionally, both the 3-chime and 6-chime whistle SFX are modified from audio recordings of 4449, by Bobby Case Loves Trains and Fast Freight Productions, respectively.

Description

The mods in this group are my updated versions of the locomotive and tender from Stationmaster's extremely popular GS-4 QuickMod (which was removed from the Workshop in early October 2022). A full list of changes can be found in the change notes linked above, but here are the highlights:

Increased scale by 15% to fit with the scale of the vanilla streamliner cars (as well as the other very popular GS-4 QuickMod by Space).

Converted everything to the new train modding system. As such, the locomotives now feature the detailed Berkshire drive wheels (rather than the rather simple QuickMod presets), as well as the Steam Cab! Additionally, all coupler and wheel positions have been adjusted to fit the new scale and new wheels, to still maintain an authentic look.

Made some tweaks to the Southern Pacific livery and packaged Halton's AFT liveries within the mod.

Made some rather blunt modifications to the tender model to turn it into 4449's auxiliary tender.
Aux tender fully remastered as of v6.0, with a more accurate and much nicer-looking model!

What's Included:

This mod group includes eight variants of SP 4449, in six liveries: The famous Daylight red and orange (with both white and unpainted driver tires); the patriotic American Freedom Train scheme; the black BNSF Employee Appreciation Special livery; the similar Excursion Black scheme without the BNSF roundel; a black/gray, WWII-era "wartime" livery (both with and without side skirts*); and an all-black "postwar" livery.

Also included are tenders for all liveries, as well as 4449's auxiliary tender DLMX 4219. This tender was originally built for SP's AC-10 cab-forward locomotive #4219, and was purchased by the Friends of 4449 organization in 1984 and aesthetically modified to conform to 4449's regular tender. This auxiliary tender is available in the Daylight, BNSF, and Excursion Black liveries.

(*Note: Though most GS-4 locomotives painted in the wartime black livery also had their side skirts removed as they were transitioned to freight service, it appears that 4449 retained the skirting for at least some time after being painted overall black. As such, the wartime locomotive is available both with and without skirts.)

As of July 3, 2023, all locomotives and tenders feature working collisions and ladders when in miniature mode!

Known Issues

The locomotives and tenders are a little wider than the streamliner cars, and as such can sometimes look a bit funny when connected to them. However, this is a rather minor issue, and attempting to correct the width of the units would require significant changes to the models in order to maintain the correct proportions.

Future Plans

  • Air Horn (will require Two-Tone Horn availability for Train Mods)

Do not redistribute this mod or any of its assets without my express permission.

Notes
  • After version 5.0, all non-basic-Daylight liveries can be found in the Train Mod LIVERIES section, not the Train MODS section

  • These locomotives have a custom top speed of 110 miles per hour at the default game locomotive speed setting. Operating at full throttle with the game set to double speed is not recommended and will likely lead to unexpected decoupling.

@kingduck In that case, might I recommend Fedora's GS-4, which is much more recent and much higher detail?

Go for it, as long as you post it as a train mod livery (if you're planning to post it, that is)
